The crack and heroin is what attracts these prostitutes. Crack is all over the city and Heroin is making its way back to the drug of choice! This needs to be stomped out! Nail the dealers hard!!
I suggest for everyone to point out the crack deals in Fitchburg and the Heroin deals. Write for help from the state police and the governor! Lets rid the town of this poison!!! Police could park outside of these drug houses and follow them around, they will slip up and they will be noticed as all the sops get to know who they are so everytime they see them they know that drug dealing may be involved!
Go to the JamSpot if you want to see police sanctioned drug dealing and hookers.

You can't arrest someone for walking down the street or standing on a corner. What can a cop do if he sees a prostitute walking down the street? Ask her where she's going or where she came from?
You can't arrest a person because they LOOK like a hooker or a drug dealer.
Here's what SHOULD be happening: The police chief himself should be smart enough to realize that he looks like a horses arse due to the fact that prostitutes are free to work the streets of Fitchburg with virtually zero fear of any negative repercussions from the police department. So, the police chief himself should be forcing the City to tighten up on vagrancy laws and laws relating to street walking; in order to to give his boys the power to step up to the issue.

When a Police Chief is making $140,000 per year; with a free car and the free gas and upkeep that goes along with it; he should be doing more than laying low at the Police Station and ignoring the 2 biggest problems in Fitchburg: Drug Dealers and Prostitutes; by hiding behind the ol' "we are underfunded" excuse!

Mr tootin could you please enlighten all of us on the vagrancy laws the police should be tightening up on. In your all knowing wisdom please give us the MA. chapter and section that the police should charge for vagrancy.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong point, eh?

I said that Chiefy Boy should be pushing for the laws to be written or changed that will enable his crew (the fuzz) to address the issue of the prostitutes. Just like what happended in NYC a few years back. NYC had a new Big Cheese on the PD and he was sharp enough to realize that laws needed to be either changed or written in order to give the NYPD the tools they needed to step up to prostitutes and the petty criminals. Again, the push came from the police department itself. They were motivated to fix the problems and they pushed for the laws to be created or changed in order for them to do their jobs.

Here in Fitchburg, all we read is either the PD is understaffed or underfunded; or that the current laws leave them powerless to step up to the issue. I say "horsefeathers" (actually, I use words worse than horsefeathers, but I'll keep it clean this time around)

All we seem to get from our well paid PD is excuses; and very little action. Meanwhile, the prostitutes, the vagrants, the petty theives and the drug dealers are having a free for all. And, the PD wants a pat on the back for grabbing up a few people who had outstnding warrants; and for plopping 4 cruisers and 6 cops down town every now and then and going on a mass ticket writting spree.

My tax money pays for this travisty of justice, and by golly I am sick and tired of it.

So now the City is going to be overly concerned about the River St area...well there are ALWAYS prostitutes near the 'Otherside" strip club on Water St. They hang out by the bridge right at the corner near the lights too. If you want to clean out the city of prostitutes the logical first place to start would be to shut down the strip club. The very type of scum bag girls you want to deter from streetwalking are also the same type of nasty strippers working there. Shut down the place and see how many of the prostitutes move on out of Fitchburg. Or are you saying you only want to get them out of the River Street area? Well of course thats all you want.
I agree with you, it is a problem in the entire city! But living in W. Fitchburg and constanly driving down River Street I am disgusted everday! I've seen at least 3 different heroin addicts waving at me while I have my two young kids in the car. and not to mention that I am not a man. What about crocker field and dairy queen, they are places where families and children go. and one time I was a dunkin donuts drive thru while one was getting dropped off by a old man! It's disgusting! If the city doesn't do something about it I'm moving far far away.

That's right ... run to the papers and keep talking up hookers, guns, gangs and drugs in Fitchburg. Wonderful idea, Kaddy, if you only care about getting your name in the newspaper or giving the hookers free advertising in the city and towns surrounding the Burg.
How about quietly getting all the business people and residents concerned and adversely effected by the problem to meet with the chief of police and then do something about the criminal element in Fitchburg without always feeling the need to make a splash on the front page!?!?!?
You didn't do much to make a positive difference as a cop on the beat, and now you are making a big negative difference as our councilor. Please stop!

Perfect example on the policy of trash for cash grant approach. We have always said it would get far worse before it bets better, in order to secure the someday, grant money desired. But,it's where the funds go once there in house,as most of the time its only used to maintain and not actually increase the police force and or their crime fighting abilities. Where's the beat patrols, and cameras promised? Why cant the Police add an extra officer to a car for more first responding and or active crime watching? Increase the traffic violations on main street lights and the Left turn only by the Boulder. More tickets,More money,More resources, it's that simple, as well as actively making arrests for the prostitutes in question. If we could get the bike patrols activated, they could used to police up and down Main street through river every 5 to 10 minutes,If two bike officer run opposites, it would put police presence 2.5 to 5 min. Also stopping along the way to communicate and get to know people and businessmen. Wow community policing, at least this can be done spring thru beginning of fall. Bikes are cheaper than harleys. This slash it, trash it, till you get cash for it a gamble, shell game, Fitchburg cannot afford.

Good post. I agree; the problem with prostitution in Fitchburg has very little, to nothing, to do with The Other Side strip club. The city of Fitchburg is infested with prostitutes, and they are not just prowling the streets whenever The Other Side is open for business.
And, as you correctly point out; the Fitchburg PD drives straight past these prostitutes all day long, like they weren't even there. Ditto for driving past the drug dealers as well.
And, as you corerctly point out, it is actually in the better interest of the PD to allow these activities to continue. That way, they can whine that they are underfunded; and use the prositutes and the drug dealers as bait to convince the Taxpayers that there isn't enough money in the police budget to address the criminals.
I don't but any of it. The Fitchburg PD; like most any other PD in our fair land; is top heavy with desk jockies and light with patrolmen. And, these desk jockies are VERY WELL PAID. And, they enjoy awesome benefits and an insane amount of paid time off each and every year. And, of course, their retirement packages are extremely lucrative.
The Taxpayers throw PLENTY of money at our police budget. And, we have every right to expect our lawmen to address the problem of prostitution and drug dealing in Fitchburg. The crux of the Taxpayer's problems is the fact that greed and an sense of entitlement that is out of touch with reality grips our lawmen. And, as a reesult, the money that should be used to protect the citizens of Fitchburg is used to overly inflate the income, the benefits and the retirement packages of the police force. It is not used to keep cops on the streets, fighting crime.

Go after the Johns, tow their car which the city will make money from, they will have to pay a court fine and the big payoff put their names in the paper. Most of these scums come from out-of-town.

OK, what I have noticed is that HEROIN is a major, major problem in fitchburg and the surrounding area's. Alot of evil people are trying to get your children hooked on this shit, and prostitution is the natural result. If only this country had some sort of sane drug policy then many of these issues would not exist, and I could sleep alot better at night. Young girls are used to pay drug debts!!! The world is an evil place, and im just hoping the police target the people who are making alot of illicit money...because money is the root of this societal ill.

Good point.....it appears that a few raids that were performed in the recent past have resulted in nothing. In one raid, the right apartment building was raided; but the wrong apartment in the apartment was raided. And, in another raid, a known drug dealer's apartment was raided, but nothing was found. It was almost like someone was tipped off in advance of the raid.

Now, we all know that the only way that crime can successfully flourish in a city is if the criminals have a few cops in their pockets. If you use illegal bookmaking as an example, just about any citizen who has their eyes open knows who the local bookie is. Obviously, the cops know it too. And, anyone who has their eyes open in Fitchburg can tell who many of the drug dealers and prostitutes are.

The story goes that Fitchburg was the only town or city that was not involved with the Worcester County Drug Task Force. Why is that? Could it be that a few of our beloved blueboys are involved with aiding and abetting illegal drug trafficking? This very thing can and does happen on a regular basis somewhere in our fair land; so why could it not be happening right here in beautiful Fitchburg Massachusetts?

Again, right up the road in Dracut Mass a couple of cops are in hot water for giving what appears to be false and evasive answers while being subjected to a lie detector test; as a result of $80,000.00 worth of marijuana suddenly just vanishing from the Dracut PD evidense storage room. Again, cops have been known to be involved with criminal activety. It is easy for them to do so. Chances are that ther fellow officers won't blow the whistle on them; and besides that, even if they do get found out, chances are that their punishment will be either non existant, or extremely light.

Perhaps an independent film maker should go out on the street and talk with these girls and the "johns", go around with the police, etc. It would make for some very interesting dynamics. The problem will never go away but the level can be reduced. Not to throw stones, but how come other communities such as Gardner or Leominster don't have any level of prostitution activity?
about Leominster Dean Mazzarella is the biggest whoremaster of them all hes got all the prosties in the city hall basement
