The FPD union, the FPD administration, and the Mayors of Fitchburg have been at odds for many years. Before there was Wong, and as far back as I can remember. It's a safe bet it will happen again in the future. Just stay tuned.
Who signed the contracts with the FPD detectives? Why are they on first shift only,M-F ? Why are there only four cruisers on Friday and Saturday nights? The city can renegotiate contracts or clear the slate and lay them all off as a matter of Public Safety!

They have fired entire police forces in the past. Fitchburg deserves better than the residents and business owners are recieving! We need to reward good behavior and leadership! Fitchburg PD has been awarding corrupt and cover up behavior for years! It is backwards!

Look at this article; they state the Captain makes $72,000 and it is stated that the Telegram and Gazzette stated that Kearns made well over $100,000! Which is it???

I feel the termination of Tasca was uncalled for. He has stood up for the citizens of Fitchburg for so many years. He protected and served us well. To ruin his long time serving the city is uncalled for. He deserves his pension and Wong deserves to lose her duties. Yea!!! for the 2 police officers to be reinstated. Why isn't
Lisa payingmore attention to the city being dark and politics.

I sincerely hope that Tasca reads this article and all of the comments left here.

What is going on in your community reeks of civil rights violation. Not only did The Fitchburg police chief violate Captain Tasca's civil rights, but the city of Fitchburg did as well. Furthermore, this is wrongful termination in its finest form.

Quote: "City Solicitor Michael Ciota filed a motion to postpone a hearing on Kearn's Civil Service Appeal, CITING WONG'S INTENTION TO RESTRUCTURE THE POLICE DEPARTMENT that would make the case moot. WONG SAID PLANS TO TERMINATE TASCA AND REINSTATE KEARNS WAS THE RESTRUCTURING TO WHICH SHE WAS REFERRING." The story goes on to say that Quote: "DEMOURA MET WITH CIOTA TO DISCUSS REINSTATING BOZICAS AND KEARNS BEFORE WONG DECIDED TO GO AHEAD WITH THE MOVE."

Talk about lining your ducks up in a row huh! Premeditation, absolutely! Back room deals, you got it!
If I were Tasca or someone close to him, I would print this article as well as all comments as fast as I possibly could.

Why should he have been differently than anybody else who breaks the law? Should there be double standards because he was a cop? No one has convinced me yet.

Each year the Department Administration determines
what positions are available. It is NOT in the
Contract that the Detective Bureau only works
days monday through friday that I am aware of.
The every December the Department posts what
positions are available and the Officers 'bid'
on those positions. Seniority rules across the
board. Which position, which shift and so on. Thus
you have the most Senior People normally doing
the in house duties, detectives and so on. Keep
in mind that Seniority NOT Merit is the determining
factor. They also will get the detective positions
(with its stipends) and the choice of which shifts they want. This is how it works at Fitchburg Police
Department. In short the Chief, not the contract
determines how many of what and where are needed.
It is not only current, but past Chiefs put the
Detectives on Monday through Friday days. So what
really needs to be done is the Governing Authority
(Mayor/City Council) needs to help him decide crime
does occur evenings, nights, weekends. Naturally
the Police Union will scream if that happans. So a
long time do little cop, will be a detective before
a junior person who wants to go get'e, is. This
can lead to a morale issue in some.
The City is divided into zones/routes. At least
in the past there were five of those. If the City
only has four cruisers operating in five zones
then THAT is a Contractural issue as it is not
supposed to go below five cruisers. Perhaps the
City needs to insist on what is their contractural
right?(GASP - CHALLENGE THE UNION?) The junior
Officer on the previous shift can and should be
ordered over onto the next shift which will be at
overtime rate but regardless the city should never
go below five cruisers. There may have been a few
incidents where it did happan, but I doubt its the
norm unless something drastic has changed in that
department in over the six plus years I've been
gone. Now, ordering someone over onto a second
shift the same day/night is not going to win the
person impowered to take that action any friends
but that's what they are paid to do.

Unbelievable! This story mentions that the base pay for a Captain is just under $72,000.00 per year and the base pay for a Lieutenant is $60,000.00. However, last May the Sentinel & Enterprise published the list of the top 100 highest paid City of Fitchburg employees for 2008 and we can see that as a Captain, Kearns made $109,100.96 in a year, and as Lieutenant Boz made $104,485.95 in a year!
So, don't be fooled Folks. That $72,000.00 base pay actually gets ramped up to over $109,000.00 per year and that $60,000.00 base pay gets ramped up to over $104,000.00 per year, because of all the stipends and the excessive overtime that we are forced to pay our greedy police department employees. And, the excessive overtime is necessary because we need coverage for the grossly excessive amount of paid days off that they all receive each year!
Boy, that base pay is sure a far cry from the actual pay, isn't it Folks! No wonder I get on here and rant and rave about our pampered policemen!
And, let's not loose sight of the fact that as they are drastically increasing their base pay, they are also banking insane amounts of unpaid vacation times on the books; to be cashed out at retirement time. We all just got a good look into this very thing when we all found out that Tasca was sitting on top of 2000 hours (almost one full year!) of unpaid vacation time.
What a life; eh Folks!
I wish. I am married to an officer, not in Fitchburg, and no way does he make the money you are talking about and he works a lot. So get your facts straight before you go on your rants.

Now, now,

Just because I am wize to what is happening regarding Fitchburg's lawmen; and just because I enjoy giving the Topix Forum Readers factual data so that they are clear on what the cops are getting paid and what they are getting away with; there is no need to attempt to smear my good name.

By now, many Readers have mentioned that they find my posts educational, eye opening, and at times humorous. So, apparently I have some fans out there in Readerdom.

It seems to me that the only people who don't have anything good to say about me are the cops themselves, their wives and mothers, and police union workers. Gee, I wonder why.

Just learn to live with me. I only speak the truth; and here and there I offer my unique opinion and observations regarding our blueboys.

These facts ARE STRAIGHT, Honey Bee. The information that I provided is factual information; as taken directly from a report that was provided to the Sentinel & Enterprise Readers on May 10th of 2009. If the pay that I quoted for both Kearns and Boz during 2008 seems to be excessively high and beyond belief; it is because it is excessively high and beyond belief. But, that does not mean that it is a lie by me.

The facts don't lie. I have given the Topix Forum Readers factual information here. If you have a problem with any of it; just point it out to me. I am sure that I can show you that YOU are wrong.

Bring it on, baby!

I sincerely hope that Tasca; as well as the current Fitchburg PD Brass; are all reading MY comments.

Besides, it is a reasonably safe guess that Tasca IS reading this blog. After all, he has plenty of extra time on his hands these days. Unless he has decided that he is going to get into crocheting and macrame' in his retirement years; there is no reason to believe that he is not on the edge of his seat right now; watching this story. He is the Star of this story; the Big Cheese; the Big Enchilata.

And, as far as Tasca printing this story; that should be no problem for him. With all the pay he received from cashing in his 2000 hours of unpaid vacation time, Tasca can easily buy the finest printer known to man.......

Typical Mayor Wrong and puppet Demoura. They think they can do what ever they want with out following rules. Too bad Demoura is just a puppet and has no respect from the officers. Lowell was very lucky to rid the city of him.
Congrats to the officers that were placed in the previous rank.

I am glad that Bozicas and Kearns have been reinstated and am sorry that Tasca's situation was handled so heavy handidly...he did wrong, should have been fined and suspended without pay, but not fired...he has not been treated properly and I think Wong should rethink this matter and rehire him to his previous rank.I am not married to nor am I related to anyone in the FPD. I appreciate the good work the police do and instead of this constant harangue they are receiving, they should be praised.

"A Clerk in the Auxiliary & Technical Services Division handles secretarial duties including filing, indexing, maintaining records and other duties as assigned by the Commander of Auxiliary and Technical Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Help maintain records of attendance, prepare and submit weekly payrolls to the Auditor's office via the Chief's office."

Let's just imagine for a moment that you have $50,000.00 in personal debt. You have been irresponsible for years and now you want to dig out and fix your life. Do you really think you would not have to sacrifice substancially? Do you think you would be out from under this mess in three maybe four years? I think not. Yet the people of Fitchburg bury their heads in the sand for over ten years and now when they wake up they want someone to just make it go away. The entitlement thinking is what has us and the rest of the country in the mess we are in. Everyone wants a quick fix.
