Drunken driving? No, Leominster man was just 'off-roading'

A Leominster man arrested for drunken driving early Saturday after he allegedly told a state trooper he drove up over a John Fitch Highway curb because he enjoys "off-roading," according to court documents.

Folks, I remind you all the time: if you get stopped and you know that you are under the influence, do not agree to any roadside field sobriety testing or any blood alcohol testing.

Officer Perry Pappas of the FPD as able to beat his charge of being under the influence of alcohol; which was isssued by the Mass State Police a few years ago, after Pappa's was found slumped behind the wheel of his haphazzardly parked vehicle that was partially blocking the slow lane on Route 190 in the early morning hours; SIMPLY BECAUSE HE REFUSED ANY AND ALL TESTING THAT WOULD HAVE CONFIRMED HIS GUILT.

I go a whole different approach than you. I remind people don't drink and drive. But then again I don't have your criminal mentality and try to weasel out of everything.

Your mentality explains why you hate cops. You believe breaking the law is ok if you don't get caught but normal people don't break laws.

If you are drunk diving you think if you get away with it you accomplished something but you could have killed someone.

Just for the record; I never drive under the influence of anything. Period. And, I do not recommend that anyone else does either.

But, let's face it: as long as there are bars that have parking lots for patron's vehicles, there will be people who are driving under the influence.

The cops know how the system works. Needless to say, 99% of the time, they simply get a free pass from other officers for driving under the influence; not only in their own towns but in other towns as well. But, once in a rare while a boozed up blueboy who gets caught while driving under the influnce will actuallly be issued a citition for it. Again, it is extremely rare (not because cops don't get stopped while intoxicated) but it does happen from time to time. And, when it does A COP WILL NEVER AGREE TO ANY TESTING THAT WOULD CONFIRM HIS OR HER GUILT. Again, as officer Perry Pappas of the FPD demonstrated for all of us.

I firmly believe that the average citizen should take full advantage of the same loopholes that the cops themselves exploit. That's all.

Wow, so you mean someone invoked their constitutional rights (self incrimination)? Amazing.

Love your abuse of the English language and punctuation. It highlights your diminished mental capacity and your lack of education.

You should never take a breathalyzer or field sobriety test. Ever. Even if you're not drunk or haven't even had a drink. Why? Because that's your right as a citizen of the US.

I agree and many people here don't realize just one drink could get them a dui. Everyone has driven after a drink or two whether they admit it or not and do not go by the number of drinks in the number of minutes rule either. One drink even after 90 minutes can still get a dui no matter what they say.

Do not take any tests. Tell the officer you have a back/neck problem and cannot get out of the car. If it is a car accident the ambulance will come and transport you. At the hospital they will not take your blood for a back/neck problem and if they ask refuse to let them. It is your right.

If it involves a car accident always state you swerved to avoid an animal such as a deer, fox, dog, etc.

If for some crazy reason you took a breathalyzer and failed remember to get a lawyer and make sure the officer was qualified to give it and the machine has been recently calibrated.

Most cops will give a teenager or younger driver involved in an accident (no injuries or death) due to drunk driving the option to go to the hospital. This is a good thing because just for them to explain to the parents what happened will be enough punishment.

This will keep their record clean and hopefully they learned from their mistake. And if their car is totaled the police know they have already paid for their mistake.

Usually they are asked "did you swerve to avoid a deer or an animal ....right? Shake head up and down......okay and now you want to go to the hospital?.....right?.....shake head up and down."

The crazy part is some people just don't get the hint.

Cops will give you a break, take their lead and don't screw with them or else you get what you deserve.
