Mayor Wong has been approached to support other businesses on Main Street, but apparently she only picks and chooses what she likes, and feels that it is ok to discriminate against businesses that she would not frequent. Maybe instead of new housing she should focus on keeping places like the senior center or the library open.

This will be a very good thing. Since we lost both PC Discount Outlet and Real Time Tech (other local purveyors notwithstanding) I felt the area was underserved. The location is also a very good thing. I wish "A Second Chance" well.

So this newspaper refuses my overture for a story on my new business, yet some used computer store gets prime space.

Never mind the mayor playing favorites - she has always been gracious with me. Methinks someone at that flea mark -- I mean computer store knows someone at the Sentinel. Hey Sentinel, refuse them all or refuse none.

LOL, Thank you for the offer, but the thought of flares and spam from people less gracious than yourself discourage my doing so.

I work in that area and the computer store opened in a trashed building where junkies and hookers and drug dealers hang around. Wong doesn't even go down that end of main street. I work on main street and we have to run all the trash out of the front of the place I work many times a day and oh big surprise Fox 25 is coming friday for the Zip Trip and she has our tax money being used to polish the turd known as the dirty burg to look like some martyr but in all reality they are just doing what she does best LIE TO US.

I agree with Suzanne Wong needs to focus on real issuse like the senior center and library and maybe finding a way to not only have only 70 or so police. I mean when a person gets robbed at GUN POINT right on North street in front of the fire station in broad day light and some of the police never even hear about it ..... well yeah a computer store in that area sounds oh so good..........NOT !

CLEAN THE TOWN UP OF ALL THE GANG BANGERS AND PIMPS AND DRUG DEALING (RIGHT ON MAIN STREET) THEN WORRY ABOUT THE "NEW BUSINESS"

it seems that to close down the public library and lay off a couple dozen police is more important than actually cleaning up the city of its ruins(pimps, drug dealers useless people that have no ambition to do any thing good for themselves or our community) and to paint some lines on the road that uyou could clearly see in the first place i think wong should maybe give the children there library back look in the right places that need work such as law enforcement to clean up our city like leomenster has twin cities i think not more like the crap hole and the nice city if she wants a job being mayor maybe she should act like one and do something good for our lovely city

Are you asking the mayor to discourage new businesses from opening until all crime is gone? Seriously?

i watch drug dealing and prostitution all day long in front of my store not once have we had it cleaned up. children and parents cross the road in fear of being mugged by the degenerates, or assaulted. im happy for the pc shop but when people are mugged at gun point in front of the fire station right next to my store and the pc store i think wong should get her head out of her ass and do something about the crime in fitchburg. our children are in jeoperdy our city is as well how are we expected to run any kind of buisness when we could be robbed or harmed are kids cant even walk down main st. after school without being exposed to pimps drug dealers and all the other low lifes how do you think our children are going to grow up and even more so now with no after school activities such as the library its good to know that with wong not doing anything at all about the real problems in our city that are kids think this is a legitament way to grow up and be,a pimp,a drug dealer, i watched a little boy after school on main st. verbaly assaulted by a drunk in front of my store i called the cops it took 20 plus minutes for them to show up if we had, had more cops not laid off maybe justice would have been served!!!!!!
i worry about our children and how they will grow up seeing the things wong lets happen in broad daylight hope shes happy

well why ask new business to come lose money in a town where they don't even give a rats @$$ about the businesses that exist currently.

I can say I sit and watch at least 20 drug deals on MAIN STREET on any given day not to mention the nasty hookers that parade their disgusting ogre like disease infested shells around in plane sight. So you want to portray this city as being a place to come to ?

Why ? The crime is going nowhere thanks to the incredible work of the mayor and her staff , yes laying off most of the cops is going to just open the city up to more and more trash.

The crime on MAIN STREET on a daily basis is enough to make most if not all store owners want to leave this hell hole. I was born and lived most of my life in FITCHBURG and to see it go so far down the s%#ter is a true shame. If the city cared about things then maybe it would work on making it more attractive in general not just so the State College can come buy up most of the real estate which they don't pay taxes on so the city just gets the money for the properties then nothing more.

As a tax payer I would like to see my street that I live on maybe not have huge pot holes from neglect and maybe a community that strives and not a bunch of hookers , pimps , junkies , methadone clinics , halfway houses where they let junkies live free and provide for them.

So would you if you were a potential new business owner want to come into a cesspool just to spend thousands of dollars if not more just to lose it all due to lack of clientel because they are all harrassed by these bumbs for money or smokes and whatnot.

Do you think female shoppers enjoy the pimp that hangs out on the corner of Snow and Main coming up to get their number to "Hook Up" YEAH what a great city so don't go blasting your question at me until you can't pay your bills because all these pieces of dung scare your clientel away so sit behind your keyboard and be a hero but if you want the truth sit on Main street near the bus station for a few hours and watch all the trash and tell me it is such a great city.

chicken and egg. More business means more revenue means more resources to clean up with. You try to clean up crime and all you have are empty storefronts, it comes right back.
