Arrest made in Fitchburg man's beating death

A man has been arrested and charged with manslaughter in the beating death of Gregory Spyropoulos, 50, of Fitchburg, who was found bleeding from a head wound in the street Sunday night and died Wednesday, according to the Worcester District Attorney's Office.

And the killer was released on personal recognizes, once again Fitchburg justice system at its finest. My condolences to his family, such a tragedy. :(

This is tragic. I have to yell at people sometimes to slow down. We have alot of kids in our neighborhood and people think they are race car drivers. Very sorry for the family. They should be upset that the murderer just gets to walk like that.

I agree with you, "unfortunate" is certainly an understatement when a man is laying stone cold dead....the police use terms like "unfortunate" when one of their boys manages to accidentally take a man's life. Like what happened in the botched drug raid here in Framingham Mass less than two years ago. I have yelled at people to slow down also. You have to be careful in Fitchburg as you do not know who they know neither. Yelling at a "good ole boy network" member can bring harm to another citizen also.

This incident is very odd. Something doesn't seem right here. The story states that the man was conscious and alert. There seems to have been another incident that took place after the brief scuffle.

My prayers go out to this mans' family as they deal with their unfortunate loss. My prayers also go out to the man who is charged also. Just a horrible situation all around.

No prayers for the man who is charged, he is a murderer. You always have to mention the "good ole boy network" in any of your postings too. This is not an unfortunate loss, he did not die in an accident, he was murdered!

This whole situation was avoidable on so many levels. None of us were there, so how can we really pass judgement? I'm not saying that the driver is innocent or excusing his behavior, but by reading the article here, and on another site. the victim was not without fault.

If and when more info is available on the "murder", I have to agree with Lynch that this was quite unfortunate for both men involved. At least give the guy credit for turning himself in and facing the music.

Apparently all of the posters condemning the driver have never let their anger get the best of them. Men..........

You find it difficult to comprehend that most men haven't beaten another human to death? Or even thrown punches over the most trivial of matters? Ae you that dense? Most men don get into fist fights in stores, malls, work, walking around or even bar rooms. You watch far too many movies. yes the man was conscious, ofcourse until the brain swells from trauma and consciousness is lost.Had to be a brutal beating in order to render the brain dead and remove a person from life support, hmmmm... a punch...don't think so

This incident is unfortunate. It is horrible. The guy that was charged you can tell is filled with remorse as you can see. In situations like this others must learn from the incident and see the damage and suffering that it all causes. There is never a time for violence as it is always bad.

The good ole boy network is protected in Fitchburg from facing consequences such as this man is now facing! Such protection of the good ole boy network teaches a bad lesson to the youth exposed to those situations! This is why fat boy is stalking my house and destructing my property. I know who this person is and all I have to say to him is to stop immediately or I will move forward with charges and expose him and his cronies! There is an investigation going on into certain city employee actions.

It is no joke! Speeding and traffic violations is a major problem within Fitchburg, just try and cross the street in a cross walk on Main street.
