Offshoring Turned Blue Shield of California and Blue Cross Into Job Creators Overseas
by Jillian BarclayFollow .
"Hello, This Is Peggy..." Who Knew US Health Insurance Companies Have Peggy From The Philippines On The Payroll?
Blue Shield of California recently closed its last California call center located in Northern California. With no warning and no explanation, all phone calls from doctors and hospitals were re-routed to call centers in the Philippines. Trying to get patients' medical bills paid has always been difficult, but now that Peggy and Pebbles and Bepper (Pepper) are answering the phone, it is next to impossible. The language barrier is significant and the customer service deficit is serious. These workers are trained to deny and delay legitimate payment, by any means necessary.
Offshoring and outsourcing are not a new phenomenon with U.S. health insurers. Every major health insurer in this country participates. Cigna, Aetna, Health Net, United Health Care, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield, etc., have all shipped American jobs overseas by the thousands and they continue to do so on a daily basis.
Health care premiums go through the roof every year and your health insurer becomes richer and richer, and a big part of the profit comes from firing American workers and replacing them with poorly trained foreign workers.
Don't like American jobs being sent to the Philippines, India, Pakistan and Canada? The jobs that have traditionally supported American families are still disappearing, even in today's anti-outsourcing environment and America's insurers play a big role.
Foreign Nationals Don't Just Get American Jobs, They Get ALL Of Your Personal Information, Too!
In order to answer questions about your medical bills, "Peggy" has to have all of your personal information, such as your name, address, phone number, social security number, employer, health history, diagnoses, medical treatments and much, much more.
Because I am a health care worker in the U.S., I am bound by all of the privacy laws that protect American patients. If I, as a Patient Financial Services analyst for a hospital, breach your information, I can and should go to jail. If, however, I am "Peggy" in the Philippines and I steal your identity or use your medical information in some nefarious way, I will not be punished. The U.S. has no enforcement powers in the Philippines, India, Pakistan or Canada.
Outourcing Means No Privacy Protection

Is this why the CEOs of these companies recieve MILLIONS in bonuses??
So they reward themselves Millions for sending American jobs to India? Nice!
And they are still American citizens? The US should have alaw that strips these CEOs of their citizenship and to land them in India for good and lock the door that keeps them from returning.

Obviously this is Romney's fault. Obama shouldn't step in and implore this CEO to keep these American jobs in Ameriva. No, no this is Rimneys fault.
Lynch, you're a despicable excuse for a human being. You're a criminal and a thug. You're inconsequential to Fitchburg politics, you make no difference and those that have interacted with you think you're a joke.
Hear that! A joke.

Yea, they count! They have made such a great place for Fitchburg, huh? They have done a wonderful job!
In todays paper they areall giving each other kudos over the opening of the new University housing. And to state that theseguys took risk? So,let me better understand. The University enrolment went up prompting this dorm building.
Is it still a risk? Oh, wait. There are state and federal housing funds that are automatically paid to this housing guru!
Did the mayor make sure of this funding source for this "private" business owner? The University president atthe ribbon cutting???
When does anyone question a conflict of interests? What about the small landlord? My neighbor houses 15 University students but I didn't see the University president and the Mayor cutting any ribbons??

Unfortunately, his argument in this case is valid and Romney's reputation as a "vulture capitalist" is well deserved. The joke among him and his ilk has always been on the vast majority of the American people, many of whom would agree with "Modern day traitors of US". Fortunately, there are few if any of his ilk in Fitchburg, so you would be correct to assert that the issue is inconsequential to local politics, but on the national stage there is quite a different dynamic playing out.

Those that interacted with me think I am a joke? Forone the fat guy/pizza guru never associated with me but for selling me apizza when he was employed at Expressos? Is this who you mean?
Does his pizza place even exist?
So, who else would you be referring to? Mayor Wong? All she does is lie! She has thought enough of me to utilize my ideas. But I wouldn't believe anything that she states.
I believe thatshe is an opportunist. She is looking for political advancement and couldn't give a shit about Fitchburg,FACT! It is what it is! She has done nothing for Fitchburg!
Insurance rates are the highest. Unemeployment second to LOWELL. Oh, that is where she came from? By the time she leaves Fitchburg will be the LAST in the state behind Lowell! Right now we are second last!!
So who else are you talking about? Chief Demoura? It is odd that he would issue a departmental order to all FPD employees due to my meeting with him.
And to take my suggestions and implement them within the FPD? I guess someone thinks my ideas are good!
I am on the cusp of making a change to the homeless situation within Fitchburg.
The only difference between me and the politicaly involved in Fitchburg is that I do not kiss ass and I tell the truth.Without the truth change cannot begin to take place. I want a better and safer Fitchburg.
And as I stated the FPD is doing a much better job and should be applauded concerning their drug dealing bust. They have been very close to catching a lot of drugs as the dealers were wipingtheir brows one nightafter a near miss.
Oh, and do not think that I haven't assisted here either!
And the campus police? The college area has been quiet! I made a very articulate case to the states ethics board as itmust of help with motivation within the University police. They may look at me but I have made a difference.
Crack cocaine is still an issue within Fitchburg. There are crack houses running exempt. Maybe itis because they are undiscovered. Will not be for long!
Now, I am having a feeling who you may be. Let me guess, did you just tell my friend that he was going to hell for gambling? Are you the same guy who told me that Zide and/or Mandell put a direct hit out on you where you were beaten in the hallway on Summer street?

At least the pizza man never killed any one like you did and went to jail for manslaughter........

O.M.G.!!! Stop hijacking and twisting these threads. I can sort of connect the outsourcing to low employment rates in certain markets, but the rest is just crazy-speak.
