When are they and what time?
sunday, July 3rd, 2011, Rollstone Hill around 10. People gather at the upper common as early as 6, where there will be a party with music and a few vendors until it starts.

The best fireworks are imported from China. How come Wong can't get them at a discount?

They used to have pretty good Fireworks and bands playing right at coolidge park until than Mayor Whitney said there was no money and thy stopped having them there. They were the only and last good show in this city, that just keeps going down and down - nothing left here. Its a shame of what has become of this once so vibrant town.Go to Boston if you want to see fireworks or stay home and watch it on the tube.

Why on earth have fireworks when the city has no money?! Fitchburg doesn't even have the money to have streetlights but hey let's have fireworks! We wonder why our country is in a depression!

Who said they have no money? The streetlight issue is over. There will never be streetlights unless the city buys them or the resident pays for them. People keep bringing up issues that will never change.

Many city departments have lost positions and employees and they are never coming back. The employees have accepted that. The residents have to accept that many services are gone and are not coming back too.

Who gave the Boulder bar room permission to block off Main St for the day? That was not in the best interest of the city, it created a major traffic jam. It's a barroom that Kaddy drinks at everyday, big deal. And do they have a permit that allows people to drink on the roof?

Oh thats too bad, a traffic jam on a holiday weekend. Whom would have known that would occur. This was approved by the Mayor.

The party at the Boulder was planned to culminate the Longsjo race activities. If you noticed, there were other vendors and portapotties set up near the post office.

the city has plenty of money. 57k for a pool to open for 2 months so the great unwashed will have a free baby sitting service. Can't wait till someone gets lost for 2 days in the deep end.

Civic Days is mostly self and grant-funded and uses a pool of volunteers. I believe the city pitched in a total of $4000. The total budget for Civic Days used to be about $45,000 and is now down to about $14,000.

People whine if there's nothing. People whine if the city spends any money. Which way should it be?

Once again, this was the leftover money from the snow and ice account. The amount will be much less as the chemicals have been donated. If you would rather we save the money, why don't you invite some of these children into your air-conditioned home a few days a week rather than having them roam the streets with nothing to do?
