A change of culture at Fitchburg Police Dept. - Sentinel & Enterprise

A cultural sea change has taken place at the Fitchburg Police Department over the past few years, thanks in large part to Chief Robert DeMoura's steady leadership and Mayor Lisa Wong's firm resolve and vision to bring about broader change in Fitchburg. Full Story

3 plead guilty in S. Boston beating death
The Boston Globe (Boston, MA)
May 18, 1993 | Doris Sue Wong, Globe Staff
Three men accused in the clubbing and spearing death of Andrew S. McDonough last summer pleaded guilty in Suffolk Superior Court yesterday to manslaughter.
Judge Robert Banks ordered Jason D. Clifford, 21, of Dorchester to serve 7 to 15 years, and Kevin Lynch, 23, of South Boston to serve 6 to 15 years in the state prison in Walpole; and Brian Lynch, 20, of South Boston to serve 20 years in the state prison in Concord.
Clifford will be eligible for parole in about five years, Kevin Lynch in about four, and Brian Lynch in about two years.
Rollstone, get more facts before you open your trap! Brian Lynch did not even have a police report on file.

Sometimes you need to know what reality is before you comment.

Ready for this review? What really happened near cleghorn concerning the man they found alive and being "very difficult" then magically retold as "a man they found unconscious"?

Will there be a trial? Lets hear that autopsy report! I am curious.

"Brian Lynch did not even have a police report on file."

And this is relevant, how, exactly? What does this have to do with anything? He was still sentenced to 20 years. More than you, if I'm not mistaken.

See, every time this comes up (and it will never go away), or a story about one of your many run-ins with members of the gendarmerie, you hang your hat on some completely irrelevant point to make a claim that you were persecuted, unjustly arrested, blah, blah, bah. In this case, who cares whether your brother had a police report on file (although I'm sure you had many). You both went to jail. Pleaded guilty, as a matter of fact. So don't trot out this crap and expect people to automatically say "Well, one of the Lynch boys didn't have a police report on file. So that explains why they must have been railroaded into pleading guilty."

While you dwell in a completely delusional alternate reality, most of us who have to drag ourselves out of the rack every morning to go to work to pay for the government largesse that permits you to lounge about all day in your pajamas demolishing bag after bag of Cheese Doodles and watching Wheel of Fortune know differently.

A man died under unfortunate circumstances. You and your brother went to jail for your involvement in it. Just because you feel that the court ignored the fact that someone was wearing a green shirt or hadn't eaten their toast that morning or some other such nonsense is obfuscatory, delusional and a smokescreen.

If you took the time to get your facts straight the boys were victims of an assaulter who laid on the ground unconscious and repeatedly struck their feet with his head.

Great story and thanks to all the members of the F.P.D. who made these changes possible.
As a member of another nearby police dept., for many years, it was painfully obvious that the Fitchburg P.D. was not operating within the same core principles for most of my career. We winced at the thought and sometimes avoided interaction with their members due to this disparity. The changes, as highlighted, can only improve the F.P.D. to the organization it deserves to be and with these changes will come a new found respect for their member's efforts.

I like both the Mayor and the Chief but I have attempted to explain to both to run things correctly. There is an ongoing federal probe of the workings of the FPD and of the city of Fitchburg. There are questions of police involvement concerning the gangs inside of Fitchburg.
The investigation consists of unsolved murders, gun running and drug dealing. There is a serious rogue situation concerning the FPD. This probe will reach into the courts as well. We need to follow the money trail.
It is time to clean the city out and I was more than willing to assist the Federal law enforcement when I was brought in and recruited!
And I suppose you didn't lie about this, either?

An asset? Are you stoned? What asset? Laws are being broken constantly and the fire department vehicles are being impeeded! The ffd will not complain because some are patrons and friends of patrons and owners! But if it was bumbles or Venues right there?? There would never be a car parked in the fire lane.
The Chief is now part of this mess as he is allowing it to happen! How can the Chief and Mcnamarra state to the city council that they are going to issue more tickets and up the fines in order to collect monies for OT; the chief has set up a revolving account for this purpose! People seem to read only what they want to know.
Then in todays paper they talk about ticketing college kids on Lincoln street because a few members of the clique live there and they don't want to see the cars . Otherwise they ALL have massive 6 car driveways. These are the people complaining!
Then both Mcnamarra and the Chief drive by JRs after I send them pictures. They drive by violators that are hampering the fire engines. Don't take my word nor the firefighters as they are friends of JRs. I sat and watched engines come to a complete stop in an emergency and squeek by within inches of the violators bumpers. Now when cars are not parked there they swing out fast and go to the emergency!
ive me a ticket book and I'll ticket them and go to court. I'll take pictures and ticket them. These violators should be towed without moving, this is a tow zone!
Chief Demoura has been notified dozens of times and refruses to address the problem. MOVE THE F IN CARS OR I WILL! i AM SO f IN TIRED OF THE TOTAL INCOMPETENCE OF THE fpd ADMINISTRATION! The mayor has done NOTHIN either!
Lynch, why was Gomez held in the Worcester House for 30 days (If indeed he was. You know how you are about telling tall tales) after your violent melt down on North Street? If you were charged with assault and released on probation after your trial, why was he kept in the jail? Did he have an outstanding warrant? What was it for?

My drivers license was taken away due to the lies of the North Street incident. The board stated that incident as a Main reason for taking my license. Nice, huh?

Why are you against Dave anyway? He said it is because he refused to sleep with you. He said you do not shower often.

You didn't answer the question, Lynch. I didn't ask about the license. You have often pointed out that your friend was held in the Worcester House for 30 and you were not. What was he being held for? Did he have an outstanding warrant? What for?

And as long as you brought up your drivers license, you mention that "The Board" took your license away. Which contradicts earlier statements by you that you never had a hearing. But, even assuming that you are correct (and I'm not for a moment) they didn't just summon you in to take your license away because of the North Street 1-man riot, did they? What was the incident that caused you to be in front of the board anyway? You have said that it was tail gating and a "debate" with a trooper. Your story smells fishy and I'm betting that you are leaving a lot out.
