So in light of all these recent developments
and Tasca being fired does anyone know what
that translates into regarding him being able
to receive that pension that he had planned
on in two more years? Is it forfeit because
he was fired? Or because he was Civil Service
is it still waiting there for him no matter
what happened? If he can still get it then
that is certainly something that shouldn't be.

If I was to guess I would say that Tasca will be charged criminally with grand larceny. If Ciota and the Mayor haven't notified the feds and/or the justice department then I am sure they will be monday.
Tasca has stated knowledge of further evidence of criminal wrongdoing of others in the administration for years! I am sure there will be other fireings within the department soon.
I believe that he will lose his pension as well as Louney if the feds get to the book keeper and the books before they do!

Wong must be a heartless person.

To take away a pension after 43 years for inappropriately taking leave for sick daughter?

Sounds to me like the police chief wasn't listening to a "subordinate" when Tasca mentioned his daughter's plight. And now, he is hiding behind the investigation to protect himself after he verbally okayed the leave. Is the inter-department power struggle or a legimate displinary measure?

Does it justify termination? Did he discharge his firearm like the Dunstable incident last year? No termination there. Or what happen with officer in Lowell who misused the motor scooter and allowed a civilian to joy ride.

WOW Whether it is WONG or Demoura someone likes to use a cannon for a job only requiring a flyswatter.

Or how about the Deputy Chief in Dracut? He showed up at a Crime scene highly intoxicated. Recently he was exonerated without censor.

This is so much deeper than you realize, in the very short future it will all be out and the true depth of his decades long spree will be spelled out.

They now have one of the many journal entries that Tasca and others have used over the past ten years. This is what the feds call "cooking the books". Until it is uncovered then it could go on for years. Thanks to Tascas extremely clear admissions they have strong evidence to produce to the feds and the justice department for an extensive audit of the books for the past ten years!
You are right in terms of someone that allowed this illegal journal entries. This doesn't excuse Tasca for his illegal behavior! Any third grader will tell you that you cannot keep track of weeks of comp time in your "mind" as opposed to record keeping in an official data base, this is why there is a database. Unless Tasca tries to state that he has lived in a cave in the mountains for 40 years and that he has a multiple personalities, one of which was the chief of the police department in Fitchburg!
What the feds do normally is they go straight to the book keeper. They ask for all the books and they sit with the book keeper and ask her to explain everything! These guys had to communicate with the book maker in order for certain accounts to be credited.
This is definitely beyond the Mayors expertise now; I figure that they organized way she has conducted everything she will now request for federal assistance and assistants from the justice department. THESE GUYS ARE EXPERTS AT THIS SORT OF THING. They will know exactly who to question, what books to go after.
My guess is the book keeper will be offered a deal where she/he avoids jail time and most likely Tasca will be offered a deal to avoid Federal prison; but if Kearns,Louney,Gallant,Cronin, and many others don't cut Tasca off at the front of the line; we will see officers off to federal prison. This has happened in other Massachusetts cities.
uh-oh...Kevin's been up all night watching X-Files re-runs.
So, I'm not on Tasca's side by any means but for those of you really thinking that a FPD captain using fake comp time is going to put itself on the FBI radar....well, you watch too much tv.
I'm sorry Kevin but your dilusional dreams of FBI and US Marshall's raiding the FPD and hiring body guards for the book keeper are funny....and down right child like.
Besides, shouldn't you be on the phone with 911 now, reporting your neighbors dog that barks too much or those pesky drivers who keep turning around in your drive way????
If he appeals to the commission, the entire record will be online from the hearing. Sad to see someone who makes such a great salary still taking advantage of the system.
Some people just don't know when they have it good.

The law will require the city to keep its side of the story to itself until any criminal proceedings are done...so all of this about Tasca's sick daughter and comp time is only coming from Tasca and his attorney...one would think people would reserve judgement on this until BOTH sides are able to speak up.

seems she's sacrificing the inch to gain the foot... if we let this go UNinvestigated, who knows how many more thousands of dollars the city of fitchburg's tax payers would have been out! probably a lot more than what we spent on the investigation/ audit. so i say it was a worthwhile investigation. this had to start w the police force; get the corrupt jerks out of there, get good guys in who will actually fight crime, crime goes down, happiness goes up!(well, best case scenario, that is).
can't wait to see how this one plays out.

Perhaps I'm being niave but in order to get
the FBI or Justice Department in doesn't there
have to be a violation of Federal Law? If it
falls under the Commonwealth's juristiction
then it would seem to me that the Attorney
General's Office would be the one who would
take over/have juristiction. If no Federal
Law was broken I don't see how the Federal
Government would get involved. Like I said, I
be way off base here.
As I recall what happened in Spencer was that
that town's PD was out of control, pointing or
brandishing firearms at each other in the PD and
all sorts of other stuff. The Board of Selectmen
for Spencer removed everone and the Mass State
Police stepped in and provided coverage in
Spencer. A friend who lives there tells me that's
what happened. The Federal Government wasn't
involved. For the Feds to then get involved here
I believe the entire City Government would have
to have totally lost control. I know, I know
lots of people are going to say that they have
but that'd have to proven. If he's fired then has
he lost his pension. Someone indicated he had but
I haven't heard a lot of commentary on that. Also
wouldn't it be up to the State Board that oversees
Public Employee's Retirements to take that away?
Not being a wiseacre, just curious as to how this
will play out and if the Feds are/will be even
involved.

Officer Earnest F. Martineau should be questioned!
Officer Thomas M. Daoust should be questioned!
Officer Phillip J. Kearns should be questioned!
Officer Mark W. Louney should be questioned!

These officers should be directly questioned!
Has anyone else had any issues with the "impeeding of an investigation"?

Surely at his age he shouldn't be using the excuse of having to care for his daughter. She must be old enough to have children of her own and certainly there are others who could care for her if she is incapacitated that wouldn't result in his taking unearned money from the taxpayers of Fitchburg.
Really. Your right, when your sick other people should take care of you, not your family. Screw values and morals. What kind of family is there for each other? Listen, Buddy, you would do the same thing if your kid was sick, and that's not even the point. He was retiring in like June. Hmmmm remind again, how many captains are left on FPD? Go get a life, your commenting on a situation you clearly know nothing about. Get a job.

When criminal charges are brought against an officer due to actions on the job then yes the FBI of Boston is the investigating force and the Justice department are the ones who prosecute!
"They are involve with cooking the books". Tasca and many others as he stated have converted "off the books comp that didn't exist" into Cash under illegal entries under improper accounts! This may seem simple case of stealing $4000 but it goes further.
The Mayor is obligated to the citizens of Fitchburg to call for a federal investigation. Now if they decide to clear the entire FPD out then , I believe yes, State troopers will run law enforcement in the city.
Whatever scenario; the residents of Fitchburg benefit in ways that they deserve. This has gone on for years! It is time for Justice to clean out the poisoning of the FPD.

Bring it!! Tasca is a criminal! Are you ready for the extensive federal audit??? The Mayor has done a great job and we will now support her and protect her from creeps like you!!! You think Tasca will bring a lawsuit!!LMFAO. What is he going to try and do collect the 4000 hours of accrued comp time that he has calculated in his "mind"??
Hey, brain surgeon maybe you can extract some jelly from Tasca brain and analize it into ledger books for him! LMFAO
When the feds and the justice department comes in and audits the books and many otherers from this "brass club" are criminally charged are you going to personally "cry us a river"?
