don't expect anything the residents say to be taken with a grain of salt.. ms marion benson has been paid.. and will request the planning board to rubber stamp her approval... putting condos on that corner property of the lake is criminal.. i thought there were environmental laws to prohibit that.. that is the piece of property the town should have negotiated for as mitigation.. townhouse buildings like on the property now being built will just cut off more visual access for the residents.. its bad enough there is little direct access without paying for it.. even though my tax dollars have already paid for it..

Your tax dollars paid for a new beach? When was that, must have missed it. Never seen it proposed or budgeted for.
Do you have "visual access" to Lake Shirley or Hickory hills? Do you expect it from the people who own property and live on those lakes?
Property rights, look into it.

Why not just give the Whalom residents a reduced tax rate to put up with all of this stuffing down in that end of town so the rest of the town can be bailed out!

property taxes are based on values-they already pay less in taxes than those evil people with larger homes and land lots you seek to villify while getting the same or more services (ballfields and basketball courts...

WOW, i bought my house in whalom for $225k, and the taxes are about $3800. estimated value is now about $195k and declining, yet my taxes are still going up. didn't know i was getting such a deal. more services = more traffic, more noise, more trash flying around, etc. the services are available to ALL residents (and non residents that dont pay the taxes), regardless of where in town you are. seems like a benson fan coining us with the term "they".

sorry Jon, didn't know use of the word "they" to describe a group of people was now offensive. I didn't say "those people".
The point I attempted to make is the people who have higher cost, higher value homes pay that much more in property taxes without the benefit of additional services. And yes, their property values have also gone down in this cycle.
