<quoted text>The President has a proposal to create jobs. First off numnuts, Congress has to approve it. The second big issue is MONEY,$300 billion, where is that coming from? Even if this passes which I doubt because the money isn't there and also his other past job creation idea's have been failures these jobs will not be for new projects but for repairs to roads and bridges. I can assure you grants will not be given to build your "connector to nowhere". Also these jobs are temporary. This job creation plan of his is noting more than a desperate, last ditch effort to get support for his re-election. He has failed on the economy, he is to late. Time for new blood and ideas and I don't mean YOU.
It is because of people like you that we are in this situation to begin with! I am as patriotic as one can get! Ouir leaders have been selling this country out for decades! Democrats and Republicans both are game playing, do nothing sell outs, Period!

The Chamber of Commerce should be isolated by our government! A connector will make Fitchburg! You do not understand a lot.Being elected Mayor is not a last option for me. I believe that I can assist in making Fitchburg a better place to live.

You do not know anything about me at all. I have made decisions like the 'shift overlay" to Chief demoura. It was my idea. I have given a lot of ideas to Mayor Wong also that she has implemented. I am a great thinker. You on the other hand are negative; you are the little guy on Gulliver travels that is always stating "we will never make it"!

I propose and promote ideas years before they are incorporated ! I am a great thinker, Period! I see the FPD as broken so I believe that it needs to be fixed, Period! You can throw all the money you want at a problem as you will just make an "expensive mess"!

It is called management! There is very poor management of the FPD! I thought as an outsider Demoura would be good as he would shake things up but the mess is too implanted at the fPD so he has attempted to work with the mess, it is not working at all!!

You feel that once a man/woman becomes an officer you must protect their jobs no matter what wrong they do! I disagree! Hold them accountable for their actions and in short order the others will fall into line, if not fire them!

Take a good long look who the sgts are, then look upward from there! Under the current circumstances you are looking at 25 yrs before the bad ones are weeded out! In my mind this is a public safety alarming situation.

So if the Mayor goes to the city council to recieve $70,000 for extra patrols on Main st; should SOMEONE follow the expenditures of that money? There was an investigator that was paid over $5,000 from the city budget also, he discovered that someone was changing journal entry postings in order to pay themselves for OT that "he kept in his own head for " 11 yrs. And he states "the entire administration has been doing this for years"!
$70,000 can buy a lot of X Boxes! So could $5,000 and the list goes onward!$70,000 could have opened the library!
I have actually given the Mayor an opening. And let me tell you that the Mayor states she got the dispatcher Union to agree to a total of "6" days off and a much lower salary! The FPD union contract that "MAYOR WONG" signed gives the FPD Union "53" days off a year!
So ask the Mayor what did cutting the dispatcher Union down to "6" total days off a year do for the city expenses??? So are you telling me that cutting the dispatcher Union down to "6" days will save the city money but cutting the FPD Union "53" days off will not save the city money?? It is the same concept!
Are you kidding? You have no idea what it actually costs to run this city. It would take an additional $800,000 (total of $1.2 million) every year to re-open the library to the hours (pre-decert level)we had 4 years ago. And that's without raises or other rising costs. Do. The. Math. Go back and look at the budgets pre and post Wong's election.

Advanced courses. In what?

They are falling off their chairs from falling a sleep while they sit on their hands! Keep voting for their lack of effort!

Solomito states that he knows of grants that the city could put in for! So why did he keep them to himself, he could've offered them up at a city council meeting!

All Solomito will do is to sign off on the FPD contract again which is up for renegotiation in 2012! I heard they are going for an even 70 days off not including holidays this time around! And his side kick Conry is leaving so he will not be able to cosign the constant OT that is draining our CITY BUDGET instead of properly addressing the FPD union contract concerning 53 days off not including holidays!

You have just put your foot in it again!!!! You again have proven how little you know about finance and how this city is run. The library is open 7 hours each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and just recently 4 hours on Saturday. That's 25 hours a week. To me, that's enough. But to get back to certification, it needs to be open 59 hours and 6 days a week. And you can't staff it with volunteers, because the employees are specialized and in a union and have already had their hours reduced. And part of the budget must go towards purchasing materials and heating and maintenance of the building. Your $70K will last about a month.

I think the problem might be that someone who has never actually managed a large budget or had a large salary thinks $60k and $70k is a lot of money.

Then vote for Solomito, you has promised to open up the library, turn on the lights, hire more police, bus the kids to a leominster pool, fix all the pot holes, hire a half dozen more DPW workers and hire a marketing specialist!! Really???????

How is he going to pay for any of it??? The library should be open from Noon to 7pm. So what do you want to see happen? The Mayor and the city council have continued to sign off on FPD OT and their Union contract that gives them 53 days off not counting holidays!!!!! Hello???? Do you think you can better budget here??? Or do we give the new FPD contract an additional five days off so we can use the rest of the lbrary costs to accomodate their OT costs???

Coming from a guy who didn't say a word when Kaddy and Conry roasted the Mayor for spending $53 dollars past the allowed $5,000 to hire an investigator?? Really??

You must just LOVE the government control over everything you do??? You pay for all this, do you even care???? Who are you voting for and why??

The reason why the Library doesn't need to be open 7 days a week is because kids are at school and most people WORK for a living.

Very good! That is what I am saying. Open the library from 12:00 noon to 8pm everyday!

And I don't believe that everyone is working, especially in Fitchburg and Leominster where the unemployment is the highest in the state! More job cuts are coming!

Maybe they will finally pass pro-American jobs bills???? Bring back our jobs NOW!!! That is what all voters have to state loud and clear to our leaders in Fitchburg and across the country!!

This is where I think you've gone wrong Lynch, you need to realize that your criminal record DOES in fact change how many voters see you. Accept it and stop wasting your time and energy chasing those who will never accept it. It's a fact of life Lynch, stop feeding off it and abusing people in your frenzy. Move on! You have a campaign to run.

"It's a fact of life, I'm not running from it," said Lynch. He said it happened a long time ago, and he doesn't believe his criminal record will change how voters see him.

"That Kevin Lynch has ceased to exist," he said.

http://www.sentinelandenterprise.com/police/c...
FITCHBURG -- Kevin A. Lynch of 48 Cedar St. said he was inspired to run for mayor after being denied financial assistance from the city for a business plan he submitted.

Lynch said he was turned down because he rents instead of owning a home. He said he would like to see a lot of changes in the city.

Lynch, 41, grew up in Boston's Savin Hill neighborhood and said his first taste of politics came from his mother managing Mayor Ray Flynn's schedule.

He attended classes at Quincy College and Beacon Hill Community College but did not graduate from either.

In 1992, he and two friends were arrested after a fatal beating in Boston, and he pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges. He was released from prison in 2000 and moved to Fitchburg, where he found work as a carpenter.

"It's a fact of life, I'm not running from it," said Lynch. He said it happened a long time ago, and he doesn't believe his criminal record will change how voters see him.

"That Kevin Lynch has ceased to exist," he said.

In 2007, he earned an associate's degree in business from Mount Wachusett Community College. He is not currently enrolled in classes, but said he is working off and on for a bachelor's degree, also in business.

Lynch said he has given up carpentry for medical reasons but is not on disability assistance. For work, he said he has recently started drafting business plans with the intention of selling them.

A first-time candidate, Lynch said if elected his top priority would be in reforming the Police Department.

"I think it's a yarnball of issues and they're all related," he said. "And the situation here is the high crime rate."

Lynch said increased crime drives up insurance rates in Fitchburg and discourages businesses and students from coming to the city.

His proposed solution is to renegotiate the union contract with the Police Department to cut down on things like time off.

He said he is open to firing the entire Police Department and starting over, a position he said has no relation to his criminal record or fights with Fitchburg police officers that have led to his arrest.

"I'm the only one who has the guts to say anything about it," said Lynch. He said he considers himself the voice of the people.

Lynch said he also wants to encourage business in the city and wants the local government to do more to help people transition off public-assistance programs and into jobs.

If elected, Lynch said he wants to see all students in grades one through eight wear school uniforms. He said this would help teachers manage discipline and get students to take school seriously.

Lynch said he'd like to encourage parent participation by holding public meetings to discuss mandating that parents help the school system with tasks like cleaning the buildings, as some private schools require.
