There are not may people that know of the word "Monday" as a racial slur. I am the cops girlfriend and I'm Puerto Rican and have never heard it, nor has he ever said anything racial in front of me or at all for that matter. For all you haters out there that are so quick to jump to conclusions, he has two black nieces, a Dominican brother in law, a best friend thats Asian and many black friend. The word "monday" has many meanings - I guess its the way you want to understand it to be spoken. The writer of "Garfield" the comic strip used to use Monday all the time. Does this mean he is a racist? This is someones 13 year, spotlessly clean career at stake here.....and yes, maybe Tuesday should be a racial slur agains Puerto Ricans.
I am a black citizen and as Crawford I take it very offensively! We haven't seen this video that is available; WHY? And we haven't heard from this officer himself,WHY?

I also would like to know as the press reported that this officer has been at the LPD for five years and you state 13 years. So where else was he an officer?

In all fairness we must list the Democrats racist baggage. Although unlike Strom, Byrd seen the light concerning the need for equality.

Robert Carlyle Byrd (born Cornelius Calvin Sale, Jr.; November 20, 1917 – June 28, 2010) was a United States Senator from West Virginia. A member of the Democratic Party, Byrd served as a U.S. Representative from 1953 until 1959 and as a U.S. Senator from 1959 to 2010. He was the longest-serving senator and the longest-serving member in the history of the United States Congress.[3][4][5]

Initially elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1952, Byrd served there for six years before being elected to the Senate in 1958. He rose to become one of the Senate's most powerful members, serving as secretary of the Senate Democratic Caucus from 1967 to 1971 and—after defeating his longtime colleague, Ted Kennedy—as Senate Majority Whip from 1971 to 1977. Byrd led the Democratic caucus as Senate Majority Leader from 1977 to 1981 and 1987 to 1989, and as Senate Minority Leader from 1981 to 1987. From 1989 to 2010 he served as the President pro tempore of the United States Senate when the Democratic Party had a majority, and as President pro tempore emeritus during periods of Republican majority beginning in 2001.[6] As President pro tempore, he was third in the line of presidential succession, behind the Vice President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. He also served as the Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Appropriations from 1989 to 1995, 2001 to 2003, and 2007 to 2009, giving him extraordinary influence over federal spending.

Byrd's seniority and leadership of the Appropriations Committee enabled him to steer a great deal of federal money toward projects in West Virginia.[7] Critics derided his efforts as pork spending[8] to appeal to his own constituents. He filibustered against the 1964 Civil Rights Act and supported the Vietnam War, but later backed civil rights measures and criticized the Iraq War. He was briefly a member of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1940s, but later left the group and denounced racial intolerance.[9]

Cassandra, the person who made that post is "NOT" black but an angry ex-con who hates cops and is using this incident to feed his own anger. He feeds himself off cop misconduct and cop corruption. He created this thread like many others to chase cops like a rabid dog that chases cars.
You can see that here. Don't become another one of his many victims.

Stamos, I see what you are attempting to do. Let me quote you,"he feeds himself off cop misconduct and cop corruption."

Yes, I am stern on these matters as misconduct and corruption should be addressed. That being said; I have never stated that this officer is corrupt. I don't know this officer.
I was not there that day, so I cannot tell you what was said or what was not said; I don't know what happened. This is a matter for the investigaters.
A conversation began concerning race nationally pertaining to this case. There should be discussion on the subject as we all need to treat each other equal.I agree with the Mayor as he stated it matters how the ball player took the comments.
This ball player could have misunderstood what was said to him.And don't be surprised if the Mayor states tomorrow that the officer wasn't the one who made confrontational statements and that he was just present which takes him off the hot seat.
Putting individuals on the hot seat is healthy. It gives others around that person to learn by the example that misconduct will not be tolerated.
And to the comment involving the young lady who states that she is a niece. It sounds like your uncle isnt a bad person.
On the issue of race. I can tell you that it is not freedom of speech, actually such comments are not protected by freedom of speech in Massachusetts. It is not against the law in Maine where there are many racist individuals. There are gun taunting racist clubs in Maine that are extreme.
This has nothing to do with your uncle as I will state to you that there are African Americans who where seriously abused and there civil rights completely violated in the past who will totally disagree with your perception. There is nothing wrong with you stating that you would laugh at someone if they called you that racist term. This makes you stronger as they are already ignorant and not you.
Equal rights is extremely important.
Stamos is just a bitter old man as in his statement he already has your uncle guilty which none of us knows all the facts yet.
In my opinion, if your uncle did say these words and meant them then he should admit to it and take responsibility. Then he should learn from his wrongful behaviors and grow from them and change his ways. The media only gave snippets which has many people assuming.I didn't hear the recordings as they have kept them away from the public.

You people can judge him all you want, but if you actually knew him you would know that in our family we have mixed marriages some of which have children. His niece has stated that her uncle is not racist and that is the truth. And for this so called investigation why did they not talk to the people he was with??? Did they even talk to people in the stands I dont think so. Leave my cousin alone, you people dont know the whole story you know what the media told you. If you watched the news the night it happened you would have seen Crawford motion his crotch towards my cousins, so why wasnt something done about that??? Oh thats right because the scum media took it out of the footage. Give me a break, he said Monday, nothing more. Leave him alone you have ruined his life, isnt that enough for the media????? Screw that fact Crawford played the race card, he a bad baseball player and is upset someone called him out on it.

It sounds like your uncle is a good person.I doubt that he will be fired even if they determine that he stated such comments. All everyone out here knows is that the word 'monday' was stated. How it was stated is up to the investigators. Even if they determine that they were racist statements then he probably will just be suspended.
It is good that you love and support your uncle. No one can take his pride away. If in fact he made this mistake then he will accept responsibility and will grow from the situation.
If you read the life stories of the above mentioned politicians then you will see what others dealt with concerning racism in the past as people do not want to return to those days.
One of those politicians had an African American child and he kept that a secret for that girls entire life. That man was racist and he recieved a lot of respect from presidents to governors. Then the other guy was actually a member of the KKK. He was a racist but he also recieved accolades from very well established Americans.
The reverand Wright controversy almost ruined President Barrack Obamas campaign as the Rev. was a racist. Anyone can change, even the most ignorant individuals.
Your Uncle may not be a racist, I believe that he is not a racist but the words that were used are construed by others as being racist comments. Even if he did make such statements doesn't mean that he is racist.
These conversations always take place when race is involved. There are many people who are affected even by the slightest comment. We all know people who use racist words and make racist statements. It comes from all races of individuals. In my mind, we are all equal!
I wouldn't worry about your uncle as he will do ok. He will deal with any result that he recieves tomorrow.

Stamos, have an open mind for a moment. Do you think that this statement has racist overtones? "Vt. GOP official sorry for Obama Facebook post

Rob Towle said Obama's 'stimulus package' includes cornbread, fried chicken coupons and a prayer rug — attacks that were widely interpreted as racist. "

Here is his response Stamos,"Towle confirmed Tuesday that in responding to questions from the website, he initially had defended the posting, but had since changed his thinking."

"In a statement issued Tuesday, he said: "It was a case of bad judgment and anyone that knows me, knows that the post does not reflect my personal values, nor does it in any way reflect the values or beliefs of any GOP official, candidate, GOP worker, or any person that I am friends with or associate with."

Now someone read a joke out of an ethnic joke book to me once. One joke was this;"What is the black version of a fortune cookie?" and the answer/punch line was "a piece of cornbread with a foodstamp in the middle"

And another joke was "how do you confuse a polish person?" and the punch line was "place him in a round room and tell him to urinate in the corner of the room".

Are these racist jokes or just harmless ethnic jokes? This could be of debate depending or not you are being forceful in stating these statements with intentions of being discriminating towards an individual that is present..

Let me ask you Stamos, was Strom a racist?

I guess the Mayor was sent a video of the incident. I agree that people should watch the video before they come to a conclusion.
I am not opposing your facts regarding this officer having "two black nieces" ect.. But I must state that this does not mean that he is not racist. Strom Thurmond had a "black child" and he was as racist against black citizens as anyone could be.
"James Strom Thurmond (December 5, 1902 – June 26, 2003) was an American politician who served for 48 years as a United States Senator. He also ran for the Presidency of the United States in 1948 as the segregationist States Rights Democratic Party (Dixiecrat) candidate, receiving 2.4% of the popular vote and 39 electoral votes. Thurmond represented South Carolina in the United States Senate from 1954 until 2003, at first as a Democrat and, after 1964. as a Republican. He switched because of his opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act, disaffection with the national party, and support for the conservatism of the Republican presidential candidate and Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater.[2][3] He left office as the only senator to reach the age of 100 while still in office and as the oldest-serving and longest-serving senator in U.S. history (although he was later surpassed in the latter by Robert Byrd).[4] Thurmond holds the record at 14 years as the longest-serving Dean of the United States Senate in U.S. history.
In opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1957, he conducted the longest filibuster ever by a lone senator, at 24 hours and 18 minutes in length, nonstop. In the 1960s, he opposed the civil rights legislation of 1964 and 1965 to end segregation and enforce the voting rights of African-American citizens. He always insisted he had never been a racist, but was opposed to excessive federal authority. He notably was quoted as saying that
"all the laws of Washington and all the bayonets of the Army cannot force the Negro into our homes, into our schools, our churches and our places of recreation and amusement."[5]
He attributed the movement for integration to Communist agitators.[5]
Starting in the 1970s, he moderated his position on race, but continued to defend his early segregationist campaigns on the basis of states' rights in the context of Southern society at the time,[6] never fully renouncing his earlier viewpoints.[7][8]
Six months after Thurmond's death in 2003, it was revealed that at age 22, he had fathered a mixed-race daughter, Essie Mae Washington-Williams, with his family's maid, Carrie Butler, a 16-year-old black girl. Although Thurmond never publicly acknowledged Essie Mae, he paid for her education at a historically black college and passed other money to her for some time. His children by his marriage eventually acknowledged her"
Good point. Look at Senator Byrd. Card carrying member and former grand wizard of the KKK. There are Democrats who say "that was the old Senator Byrd". But you're right, a zebra can't change thier stripes. So, like Senator Byrd, if this cop really said this, then he is a racist. Always has been, always will be.

I think that Strom thurmond was by far the worst racist who never changed as he kept his biracial daughter unknown until he died. That is true colors shown.
As with Byrd, Yes he was a documented racist but did he change in his later years? I don't know.
Now if someone has a bad disposition concerning racist remarks then I think that there can be change in that person for the better. first, there needs to be acceptance and acknowledgement then healing along with change.
I am not talking about the incident at hand as I was not there and it is true that they have not rvealed all the evidence and have not properly investigated as Crawford could have misinterpreted the person who stated these things.Only a few people know the truth and they were all there.

Again, I cannot agree as I feel that everyone and anyone can change for the better. I have faith in the human race. Rverend Wright I felt made racist comments; I feel that even he can change.

I believe that a lot is ignorance. I believe that a lot of people get set in their ways and when they see other races of people behaving different than their norm then it becomes ignorance which can turn into hatred which is bad.

Stereotypes can be both ignorance or hatred or both. We all mature even when we enter adulthood. We all learn and experience other cultures and understand and respect the differences.

I absolutely do not agree with the zebra stripe rational as it is just plain wrong.

I know good people who make racist comments. I will point it out to them as being a wrong and ignorant statement which can turn into an argument. I believe that the more a person experiences in life concerning other culktures and races the less ignorant a person becomes. It is basically education.

I have come to a point in my life where I see everyone as the same and every individual of a different race as capable of bringing harm. This debate will bring us into the Zimmerman, "hoodie" conversation. this sort of stereotyping can cause situations as is seen many times over.

Sometimes words can incite others reactions to a point where a statement can cause a physical altercation. We all must be aware of and to respect others always!!
