More horrible than a dilapidated, abandoned amusement park?
I would have rather seen some kind of commercial occupancy there, but we all know how the town greets that with open arms....not.
If the part that is fully completed is any indication, I think it will look OK when its done.
Look on the bright side, this could have just as easily been a twin to Tri-Town. Think about that...

As a resident of the "transformed" Whalom area, I am underwhelmed by the improvements to my neighborhood. The final blow will be the exploitation of the commercial development abutting Pierce Ave.

A once quiet working class neighborhood will now be transformed into urban sprawl (but fortunately beyond the sight of the "Historic District").

Thank you Lunenburg town "planners". Where you see enhanced tax revenues, I see a bloated tax burden that will dwarf any gains. The inevitable personnel and infrastructure demands on the town precipitated by this "growth" is an absolute certainty.

wow, $215k for an apt (more-or-less), and over $300k for a 2 bed duplex. decent homes with more room can be purchased for less all over town. i agree that i'd rather this than the ghetto project.

Had they built them years ago, instead of leaving the rotting hulk of a washed up amusement park there, I might not have sold my home on the lakefront 3 years ago.

I also wonder what the town will do about the scumbags at the bars on the lakefront. Surely, folks aren't going to want to take their children along the lakefront, while characters on Harleys are rumbling through to the bars. Late night should also be interesting, as the noise from the bars and the cycles is heard by new residents.

Maybe the Town of Lunenburg and the useless Chief of Police will finally police the area. Maybe money will talk and they will grow a set when it comes to the bars on the waterfront.

I realize you all may not like what is happening with the building but I hope you won't think or treat the people moving in there this way. I used to work at whalom and know the previos owners there wasn't enough money to maintain things properly and for the saftey of the public it was best to close down and sell it. What happens next is that homes are provided to people. Not a bad idea to me.
