How to save money 101.
Stop automatic pay raises every year. No Retro increases.
Cut 10% from all everyone that make over 100K a year.
Cut 5% from everyone making over 80K a year.
No bonus pay for anyone.
That should be a good start.

You plan is simple and very logical! Unfortunately these people don't have logic and or they protect their cronies.
There focus should be on how to better the school system! These people are creative enough to make things work better!
This is why you cannot allow "business as usual" for years on end, these departments start to not care about the substance and only are concerned about how much money they can rake in!
If these teachers do not like there jobs then they can leave! They should start to meet together and have better planning and onjectives for course studies!

"and only are concerned about how much money they can rake in!"...You make "making an honest days pay" sound dirty or something. I'm sure YOU do not care how much money you make at your job. Damn these people for trying to put food on the table. Damn these people for trying to put shoes on their kids feet. Damn these people for trying to put a roof over their heads. How dare they care how much money they make...you don't, so why should they.
Now if you do care how much money you make...stop throwing stones for them caring as well.

Here is the federal law :"The turnaround model, one of four developed by Federal education guidelines, requires the superintendent to fire all of a school's teachers and rehire no more than 50 percent of them.
Messages left for the Central Falls Teachers' Union were not immediately returned, but union President Jane Sessums told ABC6 that she hopes Gallo "reconsiders" and doesn't "hand out all those pink slips."
This is the law that the Rhode Island Mayor was preparing to implement in the face of the teachers Union blatent disregard for compromise in the mist of bad test scores, and inept teaching!

Bonus pay?? What planet are you living on?
Look at the budget this way. The school district provides a direct service to 5,000 fitchburg residents every day. Much more than any other department, thats why it has so much of the budget.

There's that word "logic" again. When you created this thread did you not think that anyone would see right through this scam. Were you responding to Sybil, your other personality with this post? Is this the so-called law you referred to and thought could be used to fire the entire FPD?
