Have been looking to buy a home for the past several months. Small town tax rates have greatly detered us from even considering places such as Ashburnham & the like surrounding towns from buying there. Don't need 2 mortgage payments plus the expense of a private septic, trash, & water. What do these small town managers & councils do w/all this funding coming out of the pockets of property owners???
Get a clue!!!
You might have others willing to move to your towns & help relieve some of the burdens from the existing tax payers & property owners!!!

Taxes are keeping you from moving to Ashburnham or nearby? How are the rates there in BELMONT?
Oh I see, that's the reason you're looking here. Belmont is astronomical, the west, high, why are you only talking about the high rate areas and just accepting the astronomical ones?

At the very least there services are provided including public access transportation, sewer, trash, water, & certainly an area that has a greater choice & higher pay scales in the job MKT. Get a clue & at least fix your roads! No I'm talking about poor city mgt. across the state. What services have you received lately for your tax $'s that have been collected from over inflated property tax rate values. A fair MKT. evaluation w/current property sales rates in mind would be a fair option. Wouldn't you agree? These homeowners are still tax burdened with the tax rates of a much better economy as well as property values that have plummeted. Wasn't that what the whole idea behind what the Boston tea party was about? Equal representation & fair taxation rates for all?.........

Yeah, you do have a point there. Tax collections go into Boston and what percentage comes back? It is small. Most goes to support the greater Boston areas roads and public transportation.
What is there in central MA for public transportation?

There will soon be a commuter rail in the center of Westminster, Ashburnham, Fitchburg, accesible right off RT 2 which gives Gardner and many other western outliers access as well.

Actually, No, that's not what the Tea Party was about, the Tea Party (Original, Boston based, UK rebuttal) is what that was about.
You must have been thinking, OR NOT, about Daniel Shays rebellion?
