As kids we had more opportunities. Today, a Firefighter job is sewn up through generations and a minimal amount of available slots. Same with the police as there are only a few open slots.

I would still encourage the kids to strive for these careers if they chose. Many of the jobs which families were raised on and married couples are now living on out on pension are no longer available.

The message that these kids are getting is why bother to try when the network has it all sewn up?

Peer pressure and the lure of cash money is in their face constantly as our city is swimming in drugs.

Law enforcement has told us that it takes 6-8 months to rid a drug house which may even be extended to two years if they move just once.

This drug dealing is not only in the face of all us adults but our youth are seeing everything. They are constantly watching and absorbing like a dry sponge all the negative.

We need to show them the positive, bring it to them, bring them to it and always encourage them to pursue their individual goals and dreams.

Our initiative would accomplish all this and more. One of the most important connections will be encouraged through the police. We must build a positive relationship between our youth and the police.

This connection has been non existent, instead of just finger pointing we need to change this fact. Whether it is a lack of funding or partly the effect the police job has on the image and importance of our youth.

Gangs is the only outreach within Fitchburg that is working as older gang members influence our youth into joining in on the negative. They flash cash, nice cars and cloths. The three things that can easily influence todays youth.

Too many are falling through the cracks. There is just too much loss of positive energy within Fitchburg.

We will work with the schools, the police and the community as a whole in identifying kids in need of assistance and direction.

We will succeed because the energy is there.

Pure ignorance!!!! And this is an understatement. Still after considering the source I cannot believe the ignorance.
I know a couple of you are just old school racist who will never change as you constantly point fingers at everyone else. You will always label people who you do not agree with.
This is beyond cyber stalking! Which is a crime mind you!
You are the racist. And a self loathing one at that. You don't live in reality. Your anger and hate has consumed you. Don't blame me or the 'good ol boy network' because you simply can't function in society.

This is a great idea, Lynch. You can teach kids how to sit around in their pajamas all day eating Doritos and watching TV. How to get on the cuckoo check for life. How to avoid ever having to get a job. How to make up statistics out of thin air. How to prepare for getting arrested and/or going to prison. How to stalk cops. You could start a drivers ed course. Well, maybe not.

I'm just saying Lynch the idea of you helping to raise other peoples children is frightening. In your narcasistic utopia you think you are the perfect role model. In reality going by your past track record nothing could be further from the truth.

Here's a reality check. Lets say you did mentor a kid and he or she says I want to go and apply for college at FSU can you bring me? What's going to be your response?'Sorry kid I'm banned from campus and don't have a license.'. It's just a terrible idea for you to even think you can help kids.

<quoted text>Why do you always bring up race? You are the only one who constantly does. Also where did you find your statistics on drug users and what was the model to come to this conclusion? Wouldn't you agree that if the majority of the population is a certain race then common sense tells you they would make up the majority in any statistic?
The problem isn't the kids but rather the parents.
What knoledge do you have to offer?
1. How to lie and cheat the system.
2. How to spend your life living in your moms basement.
3. How to have your license revoked for life.
Just admit that you know nothing about helping kids mature.
You and your network have made a complete mess out of the entire system. You passed NAZI laws just to please the finger pointers.

Did these new laws work? NO. First you passed a law that barred people with records from working in certain fields. What happened? Complete and utter failure!

You think that you can solve everything through book knowledge.

And YES, the RMV is a good example of NAZI laws!! This is fact! Have these new laws worked? NO!!!!

It has set up the system to be vulnerable to abuse. People are allowed to wrongfully utilize the law and its tools to enact revenge.

Due to these changes people have lost faith in government. The "do not apply" signs may no longer be plasted in the windows as they are more evident now without the physical signs.

The "finger pointers" !!!! Such as those who point fingers at those receiving welfare and food stamps. It is no longer abuse as it is a sentence into receiving welfare and food stamp assistance.

Society has created these systems. No energy is applied to transition programs off of these services as they actually make it nearly impossible to get off this assistance.

For the past ten years society as a whole is of the consensus to "take what you can" because those at the top are taking by the truck full! It is in your face and constant. Padding each others pockets with not a care in the world. You talk about abusing the system sit back and watch those at the top.

It is now common for a Sheriff to be corrupt. Favors are done in your face everyday like they don't care. And some of their supporters will say, "they are good people". The Sandusky's of this community and state are many!!! Double pensions, stacked pensions, lucrative $150,000 plus no show jobs.

At $150,000 that is equivalent to "62" citizens receiving food stamps for a full year!!!!! It doesn't stop there as the OT got so abused that I really think it is the reasons for our fiscal problems in Massachusetts.

No one is held accountable in public office nor in a city nor state job unless you do not know anyone. Its abuse after abuse after abuse!!!

The courts are so f-ed up due to judges not being professional and not ruling on the law justly. How can a society expect to respect such a corrupt system??

We are supposedly in a Recession and all the city governments continue to do is raise after raise after raise. Same with CEOs of companies.

In a time of recession all the CEOs doubled their salaries. Ball players still pulling in 100s of Millions while shooting steroids to accomplish their goals.

The entire system is a mess and welfare and food stamps is the very least of our problems financially!

Please just think of the absurdity Lynch. What will be some of the fun activities for the kids? You taking them to a driving range for a little golf? Maybe go to a car show to teach them a little about automobile history and how to assault cops and EMT workers? How to kill your dog Peaches? Yeah sure, sign my kids up! The whole idea of it is laughable. Now go ahead and call me names and threaten me for speaking the truth.

I say we take the top five CEOs earning $4 million a year a piece which equals 20 Million and fire them. Then we take the 20 Million dollars and we transition 1000 citizens off of welfare and food stamps and allow them to work 40 hrs a week.

Now if we do this across the board then we may be able to get America back to work. We need leaders with guts to just vote for a true American jobs bill with teeth.

There are too many people making Millions. These millionaires are not reinvesting in America!!

All banks both local and big corporate banks sat on their money too long. No investments within America have been made!!!!

When this is fact how can you sit back and point a finger at those collecting food stamps? Many of these people earned their money through the trades and other hard working factory jobs. These people worked their tails off for low wages, killing themselves for OT. But they did it and cashed their weekly checks and went shopping for their needs.

Now, you and the other finger pointers fucked it all up! You seen an opportunity to make money in the stock market. You want to make millions on the stock market and take away food stamps!!!

The stock market has been a bubble now for at least ten years as it is ready to burst. I hope it sends the nonworking Millionaires who exploit foreign workers over Americans onto the food stamp rolls!!!!!!

You talk about cheats??? In a massive recession the stock market goes up by 50%? The dollar may be worth half a peso in about a years time. Then we all can go back to growing our own food.

Who is this "we" you speak of that has the authority to fire a CEO? If a public or privately held company votes to pay a CEO $4 million what kind of Socialist are you to fire him, take the company's profits and just give it away to someone unrelated? Really?

Lynch, why don't you take a little stroll on over to Day street and see if you can partner up with Adrian Ford at the Three Pyramids (AKA Minority Coalition)? He has a wealth of knowledge and experience with Fitchburg's youth and city politics and just might be able to assist you in your new endeavor. You do realize he's been there for 30+ years, right? Now go over there and pick at his brain.

Firefighter and police jobs are given by the highest score on the civil service test. There is a veteran preference which there should be as they served our country and put their life on the line they should have something to come home to. Disabled vets have even more of a preference.
A police or fire candidate can only chose 3 towns/cities to be placed on their list waiting for employment. But there are exceptions to the 3 city rule.
There are other preferences too. If one of the parents was killed in the line of duty as a police officer or firefighter then their son or daughter has the preference to automatically be placed at the top of the civil service after PASSING the exam and will be listed on ALL cities or towns. This is the proper thing to do as their parent gave their life for the job. They can chose to go wherever they want to. Most chose Boston obviously for the status of working in the big city.
Fitchburg has an age limit of 32 years old and must become a resident within a 15 mile radius of the city.
There is also a minority preference. This is city wide and if the DPW,Police or Fire Department is lacking in minorities then the other departments must make up for them. It is not based on each individual department but based on the overall number of minorities employed by the city.
There is also the "layoff" list. There are numerous individuals layed off from other cities and towns and they have a preference to be hired in any city or town. They don't even have to stay here they can return to their original city within 10 years at anytime if they hire again.
Anyone without a felony can be a police officer or firefighter. The highest score on the test gets the job even if they are not a veteran. Line of duty and layoff candidates will have preference over everyone though.
Family members have no preference, it is that most people do not know how to get a job as a firefighter or cop but family members know the procedure of taking a test so they start taking the exams at 19 or 21 years of age. Someone with no connections to the fire service or police would not know about civil service exams.
There is "walk-ins" everyday at the police station, fire station and city hall asking how they can become a police officer or firefighter.
Most of the veterans know that they can get veterans preference now once they return from active duty. So they are all taking the civil service exams.

Sorry but this issue bothers me. So Lynch, you have confessed and went to court stating that you would throw underage drinking partys (and supply the booze), get involved in assaults and also you tried to kidnap your boyfriends nieces baby. And you just think people are going to want you to be involved with their children??? You must be one sick puppy.

Droopy,

Interesting question...go ask Obama...he advocated that they be given a method for becoming legal. We have millions of people that need jobs and we have illegals working in those jobs. If Americans were told they can work the job and public assistance will make up the difference if the job is lower paying, until they can find better paying work, we could remedy two situations at the same time.

BUT, not if we have a President that is OK with giving illegals amnesty and they can violate our immigration laws.

If we can give those jobs to Americans, then we can reduce what each American is collecting for benefits as they wean themselves off of the system and become self-sufficient...good for everyone involved.

Who cares about the private sector and their millionaires. It's the billions we give out to foreign aid. Why do we have to give $1.5 billion dollars to Egypt that already has not millionaires but BILLIONAIRS?

So Lynch you are so lost it is not funny. It is almost like you have no education about economic affairs. The private sector has nothing to do with welfare. There are jobs for the welfare people in the private sector.

They don't want to work.

But maybe we should take those billions (tax dollars) that we give to Egypt and use that for the welfare people and then lower the taxes for the working people.

Lynch how come you never like to talk about the use of the working person's tax dollars? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
