Simply amazing. All along, you guys have been commenting about what a bunch of hardworking, stand up guys all of the Fitchburg PD is. But now, this guy gets promoted, and half of you are ranting and raving about how dishonest and unethical he is. So, is he really all that bad? If so, how come up to now, none of you had anything bad to say about him? And, is he the only bad apple in the bunch? Or, the next time that someone gets promoted and you malcontents don't agree with it; will we all be reading about what a sleazebag the guy is?
You guys come across like two faced whiners in this link. One day, this guy is one of the great ones; and the next he is no good. Again, reading some of the comments here, you guys come across like fools.
Again your attacking the bloggers not the issue.

Most organizations do not like to air thier dirty laundry and thats why this is hear. This is a venue to air grievances. Not pick fights. If this guy has been less than honest, it sounds like a few people have commented that it will all come out before too much longer. If this guy really is as bad as a few people have said he is; then I can see the troops being up in arms over this one. Could this be a case of the Chief giving a favor to one of his followers in the 11th hour? It could be.

Sadly, I'm not sure they could have promoted anyone from within that would not have had a bad reputation or history behind them.

This is one of the reasons that a complete overhaul of the department is so badly needed and long overdue.

is it going to be difficult and unpopular, absolutely, and this is why they not only have state police patrolling the city, but walking the beat on Main St.

towns like Spencer and Millville had to go through this, and sometimes it gets so bad the state police have to come in and temporarily take over. That day be quickly be on the horizon for Fitchburg

Where is Sgt. Fossa in all this hoopla. Retrofitting his "booster" car seat for someone new to take over for him?

Wongs choice for Chief Demouraliza is proving to be a bad decision. We've got a top cop in favor of giving drivers licenses to illegal's and a hit and run city employee from outside who's going to take his money and run. At least if she went in house that person would have been paying taxes and spending money locally.. Talk about taking it up the shoota.
I guess Wong has the same options seeing how her roots are beyond Rt.2

I have been honest. There is a saying 'trust the boots on the ground'. My motive is clear, this Deputy is unfit, he should retire. Is it wrong to expose this? I dont think so. Again, Ill say ask the Officers.

This whole time, no one, no one has come to this Deputy's defense to say what great cop he was, or how honest he was, or how hard working he was, or they trust him with thier lives.

BS artist, Con-man, are some thoughts that come to mind describing him. Look deeper. And the truth shall set you free.

I suppose that the problem with your comment of "ask the other officers" is that us citizens won't know for sure if the other officers are really telling it like it is; or if this guy just failed in a very tough popularity contest.

But, if in time the truth comes out and it is shared with the public, and it is shown that this guy has been dishonest or/or unethical, I will be the first one to say that you had every right to be an angry man, Angry Man.

According to that google he apparently swindled 70 grand from a widow and is being forced by a court order to pay it back. Sounds like a crook in uniform to me. Can you just imagine what this clown would do if he came upon a big cash stash with drugs. My guess he wouldn't report nearly as much as was found!

Good news for all the above posters, a VERY good source in Joe Earlys office has indicated that they are interested in the actions or inactions of a few members of the command staff. So relax folks, your wishs will come true and a couple heads should roll.

I normally do not respond to these types of things but the buzz around Fitchburg made me look. When I googled Mr Bergeron and found that he did in deed swindle a women from a large amount of money it deeply concerns me that he got such a big promotion. This officer should have been fired along time ago for this.Imagine $70,000.dollars Wow from a helpless old women .The mayor should indeed look into this and demote him like she demoted the others.

It is a misconception that cops have to be honest. Apparently, it is not a requirement of the job. And, that is a good thing for many cops. They would be out of a job if honesty was a requirement for being a cop.

Are we all supposed to think that this guy is the only guy on the Fitchburg PD who ever got caught with his fingers in a poopie pie?

District Court Judge Michael J. Brooks overturned the conviction in December 2004, citing Fitchburg attorney John Bosk's "failure to conduct adequate pretrial investigation and preparation."

Sounds like this attorney is a criminal!

Where is the infro on Bergeron?

Are you kidding me? Just when I thought that Fitchburg had done everything possible to cause the failure of our fair city, I read about this rediculous move. Deputy Chief? Bergeron?? Does anyone check into this? Chief DeMaura, I still had the jury out on you inspite of all I had heard until this little bit of news. Are you really that poor a judge of character? Pete Bergeron? The man who blows smoke for a living and never really does anything? That Pete Bergeron? The man is a pathalogical lier, lazy, backstabbing, self serving fool. He should have done Fitchburg a favor and retired years ago. You have people of integrity in that department and you choose someone that doesn't know the meaning of word. What's next? Deputy Barnie (Fossa) Fife? This is a sad day for Fitchburg (again). We do not have enough officers to patrol the streets anymore but we now have a Deputy Chief-one I might add that has never really done anything except promote himself and his (very) wonderous deeds. Hey Pete how's the FBI and Air Force One and the president's inaugaral ball? Chief DeMaura, what is behind this move? If in fact you are serious about this, then Fitchburg is in more trouble than we thought ( if that's possible) You have told many people that you are counting down your days until your 3 years are up. I have this nightmare that you are grooming Bergeron for the Chief position when you leave, please tell me that won't happen. Someone needs to check into this move to protect our city from yet another mistake.

As i'm sure some enjoy your comments - those who live(d) this day in/day out don't apprecitate U. Just because one guy is a fraud, doesn't mean they all are. You obvioulsy don't work/have never worked where you do not overstep your boundary with a ranking officer. One bad move against them & they could ruin your career. It's a very different world than your 9-5/M-F corporate world & you would never understand.

As for the Chief - he's as good as useless if he believes one word that comes out of Pete's mouth. If he is there to fix the department - Great! But this is one of the worst moves & it will prove very costly.

In the end the truth will come out. It may take some time, but Bergie won't have the last word on this.
