Does it matter how we vote? We asked for State Income Tax to be rolled back to 5% after it increased to 5.25% and that NEVER happened. Will of the people is thrown into the dumpster behind the state house while our reps continue to look to nickel and dime us at every turn. Soon they'll put a toll turnstyle at the front door of the 'Hooker Entrance' on Beacon Hill.
nothing will change

Massachusetts No Sales Tax for Alcohol Initiative, Question 1
The measure would ask voters whether or not to repeal a sales tax for alcohol sales.
This proposed law would remove the Massachusetts sales tax on alcoholic beverages and alcohol, where the sale of such beverages and alcohol or their importation into the state is already subject to a separate excise tax under state law. The proposed law would take effect on January 1, 2011.
A "YES" vote would remove the state sales tax on alcoholic beverages and alcohol where their sale or importation into the state is subject to an excise tax under state law.
A "NO" vote would make no change in the state sales tax on alcoholic beverages and alcohol.
How will you vote on November 2nd?
Do we really want to encourage people to drink more alcohol?

Nobody needs encouragement. Increases taxes does encourage government to continue increases, and enables corruption.

The reason why this is such a big issue with people complaining about taxes is that we dont have a proper income tax... thats really it.

Only increases the amount of services it can provide. This notion that the private sector is some guardian angel is complete nonsense.

In reality even though Nuclear power plants are run by the private sector do you really feel save with a private industry controlling an nuclear reactor? I dont given that most of the old guard of nuclear physicists will probably retire and the private sector will higher the cheapest solution.

Now thats an extreme but do you think that corruption is not to be found in the Private sector? which is exactly whats going to happen if you keep cutting taxes is simple privatization. I mean I wouldnt mind XO police..aka the new name of Black Water but its really just your opinion.

Corruption is found everywhere if you think by giving less resources that the government will provide the same services or "fix" itself is insane.

Hows your Property tax looking NH man? Looking mighty fine as the highest in the entire country. How is that in correlation to the average Massachusetts citizen who pays "all these taxes."

alcohol is a luxury as said above me, we do not NEED it, if pot is legalized here it will be taxed up the yingyang and I will pay gladly to be able to buy it in the store like alcohol. Tax the hell outta alcohol, and drop taxes on the necessities.

New studies actually show alcohol is now classified more dangerous than heroin and cocaine.

I say legalize pot and tax it and there will be so much revenue you can drop all other taxes. Plus a lot more food sales :o)

this question was a win yesterday, this means sales tax will end on jan 1st 2011.what i dont understand is,why were so many people so stupid and retarded voting for a sales tax on beer, wine and booze is absolutely insane.its like dont these ignorant people realize its another way to constantly raise taxes on something like this just as they did with cigarettes.you get certain people out there and then sit there with these pathetic lives bitching, whining and complaining over anything whether its emissions, cigarettes, food and now alcohol.whats even more stupid is,these idiots dont even know what makes you high when something is alcohol cause anything can be alcohol.what these idiots are trying to do is tax yeast, because thats make a beverage into alcohol.you know if some of you fat bastards didnt sit at buffets constantly feeding your fat face to the point you feel like you wanna puke or eat constantly at fast food joints and then you go home and sleep, well maybe you wouldnt be such fat tubs of crap.so blame yourselfs and not the establishments, the same goes with alcohol, your the blame if your constantly getting to trashed all the time.i mean jesus christ if your drinking from during the day and well into late at night, and now were suppose to pay for your drunking waste of life cause you cant drink right.but thats what the state does, they use taxes as to lie about what they fund like they did with cigs, then constantly raise taxes, now they are trying to do the samething with alcohol.how much you wanna bet 10-20yrs down the road taxes keep going higher on alcohol if these idiot tax stayed in place

I have to agree with you Rug. Leave the state and let them turn into a sink hole. They brag about us having the best Education system. "No one left behind" which is just that. The kids can sit on the street in gangs, sell drugs, but as long as they go to school one day a week They still pass them. All the stores and Big business have already left the state.I believe like you all there going to see in Mass. soon is hospitals, collages and more taxes.
The hospitals will always have a job patching up the collage kids And the police will always be locking up the gang members, And once in a while them selves. And the law makers they will have to go on writing laws mostly for Mass because there won't be anyone here that care. Maybe the can fence in Mass and use it as a giant Jail system for other states. Then they wouldn't have to worry about building casino's.

The only way you change anything is to move. Every state is in competition with every other state and when people leave and the tax base is less that's the only message dirtbag lawmakers/politicians understand. There's a reason why college grads are going elsewhere. There's a reason why Taxachusetts is losing seats in Congress. There's a reason why states like Arizona and Texas are gaining multiple seats in Congress and their unemployment stats are much lower than in Mass.
You don't receive any bargains whatsoever living here....NONE. Let the illegals, drug addicts, gay and lesbians, and those who will not work live here. Soon I'll be one of many seeing Mass through my rear view mirror.

They are taxing the drunk drivers. Plus you and I every time the total a car our insurance goes up. There no profit for the hill and the justice system here If they don't fine the drug dealers and drunk drivers. There is no room in our jails so most have to pay a fine. That's how all these crocked lawyers and judges make there money. Has anyone ever seen an accident from cigarette smoking.?
How many life's die from drunk driver every day ? But that's why they triple taxes on cigarettes and leave alcohol alone.
