Who's running Fitchburg?

I went to the Board of Health at City Hall on Oct. 30 to find out what I needed to do to open a hot dog wagon. Full Story

Mr. Gallant needs to answer the question.

"he doesn't allow hot dog stands in Fitchburg."

I don't expect HE makes those decisions so the way this is written, should be addressed.

As for Mayor ELECT Wong, she won't be sworn in for some time so you can't start hammering on her quite yet.

Anyone who has ever dealt with Mr. Gallant is well aware of his omnipotent arrogant attitude. This guy has major control issues and has been a thorn at city hall for many years. Mylott, like many other mayors have had to rein him in and deal with his antics. He finds enjoyment in cranking up anyone that comes in looking to do business at city hall and when he's on the road doing inspections he looks for anything he can use to threaten business owners. I think the guy spent his youth being picked on and now spends time getting even with his warped thought process.

Mr Gallant along with others in city hall have been anit-business for years. Maybe you just have to figure out how much he wants????

I have never heard anyone say anything positive about dealing with Mr. Gallant, and I have also heard he is on a power trip.
Plus, we all know, here in Fitchburg it is all about who you know. If you were a buddy of Gallant's, you'd have your hot dog truck in no time.

I also had a bad experience with Mr Gallant. I have a business here and went to him to be sure I was doing things properly. When I met with him I got comments such as "zoning doesn't matter I decide what you can do", "if things aren't done my way I'll strap up my boots and come down like a storm-trooper", "I have to know what kind of paint and carpet you'll be using". I could go on but I think everyone can see he thinks he's in charge of everything that happens here. I just hope Lisa Wong reads these stories and does something about it. If she doesn't businesses will continue to go elsewhere.

No wonder the only businesses left in fitchburg are the bars, hookers and drug dealers.

Mr. Gallant has no buddies. That's why he uses his position to stroke his ego. If you have ever witnessed him in action it becomes apparent that money is not the issue. This guy uses his power to forfill some of the many emotional needs he is lacking. If I mention any one of the one's I believe he may be lacking I would probably be flagged from this site.

Thank you for all the replies. If enough people write, maybe something will be done about Mr. Gallant. The B.O.H. from Leominster came to my house in Fitchburg to inspect the truck and I got a permit from both the B.O.H. and the Building Commissioner within an hour. Thank you Leominster for wanting a new business in you city (no matter how small).

I too hope our new mayor is aware of these past problems. I see Mr Jersyk of the Board of Health has retired too. Nice. I'm sure the good ol boys see the writting on the wall.
Anymore of you good ol boys ready to leave, or are you ready to start serving the people of Fitchburg and not your ego's?
This is fantastic for Fitchburg....hopefully we will hire people for these positions who has some vision for Fitchburg and not themselves.

Go Girl, dont you think you should let Lisa Wong get in her office and be sworn in before you start looking for something to complain about?

Well your one of the few Mr Morin. He has the same attitute as Mr Gallant. He comes through businesses like a little god. I've seen places in Fitchburg that are in deplorable condition....but they are friends so they don't get written up. then you have a place that is being run clean and properly and because you don't know him he looks for anything he can write you up about. Ask around.

Lisa doesn't take office until January. Maybe you should ask Mylott?

I am well aware of that but lets ease her into the transitions, and as far as the Jersyk or Gallant actually they have always been very kind to me. Trust me you will have plenty to complain about when your new Mayor takes office just sit back and wait! its only a matter of time and by the way when your real estate taxes go up and the business taxes go down PS: don't complain. Wait too till you see who takes those department positions remember in life everyone ..........has favorites, friends and buddies and rubbing elbows with someone, yes it is who you know its always been that way, get off the clam boat and welcome to Politics. I've had my mishaps in the past trust me on that one I've been a victim of it and I've seen victory too. Again, it is who you are what your name is and who likes you and who doesn't.

Liz C... Sorry your clam boat sank! Mr. Donnelly and his friends need to move over so Ms. Wong and her friends can move this city forward. Don't be scared!

As a person who has lived in Fitchburg twice, I can see what happened to business in Fitchburg. Danny Mylott used the hiring of more police officers to bring business, and yet he had a top cop, in Mr. Gallant, that shoots down any business, to help his friends. After all, that is what the Mylott administration is all about...scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.

Paul, don't give up...Fitchburg needs more people like you. Just wait till Lisa Wong gets sworn in, and talk to her. I understand going to Leominster would be good (and I wouldn't blame you..), but I hate to see business people like you getting screwed by the system, and storm-troopers like Gallant
