What ever board that will approve this move would be fools! Remember when this gentleman was the manager of the late Sydney's Paradise? I bet the Fitchburg Police Department does...

Bottom line is this is NOT the best area for a supposed upscale place. It's almost like trying to convert Rock Bottom Cafe to Tavern on the Green.

Considering the Committee's lack of judgement in allowing any establishment to be open in Fitchburg (good examples was the club on Main Street that 2 stabbings, and the Hip Hop Club below the bowling alley last year with 500 fighting patrons), I think that the City Council needs to put a moritorium on any new clubs, until Lisa Wong takes over.

Secondly, a High Scale club that will be across the street from a scummy strip club that had last year a waitress having sex in the parking lot. People with money will flock to the one of the worst areas in Fitchburg, where drugs are sold, prostitutes florish along Water Street near the Strip Club, is just asking for trouble in a City that has enough trouble as is.

In short, the Committee needs to be throw out on its ear, as it's usefulness to the citizens of Fitchburg has been long since gone.

In short, Fitchburg does not need more bars, it needs less crime. Watering Holes breed more drunken people, more fights, more crime, and more scummy reasons for business (The Other Side).

And now we will have a "night" club next to a store that sells costumes and Halloween items. Oh, the owner of the Halloween outlet, wasn't he arrested, AGAIN a while back for DUI and no license ?

A "classy" dance club next to a Halloween store, next to a strip club, next to train tracks, and across the river from homeless dwellings? Where does the word "classy" come into play again?

Ryan: To give you another idea, the City decided to take an old abandoned rail line that passes just behind the Halloween shop for a walking/bicycle path that leads to Leominster. It passes just across the street from "The Other Side" (the scummy strip club) and the where this Classy Club is going to be. That also with a road that is going into a large Condo building that will probably be empty for a long time (as the only folks with the money in Fitchburg are the ones selling crack).

So you are going to have these health conscious people walking into a red light district. Kinda like having Boston Common ending up in the Combat Zone!

What is really amazing is...who the H*LL in city hall dreamt this one up?

The Combat Zone was, in fact, adjacent to the Common. If you walked to the south-eastern corner of the Common and crossed at Tremont and Boylston, you were in the Combat Zone.

Thick as a plank, aren't you?

Mr. John, I believe you may be correct....AND I remember reading something about him rebelling against City Hall and pulling a Fire Alarm as well. A real "Class Act" going to open a "Classy Club"...Riiiigghht! I hope he doesn't have any children...not a great role model for them or business owners in Fitchburg. Aren't they trying to "revitalize" the city, not degenerate it.

It is a shame we have to live in a society where some people have nothing better to do with their time than to talk negatively about others. There is a saying.. If you cannot say someting good about someone than you should say nothing at all.

Dr, that was before "commenting" came along, still holds true though.

We'll never make it, we'l all be killed!

Redevelopment has to start somewhere, ONE flasgship success can spur a whole neighborhood to success. Each new establishment has an opportunity to create another based on it's success.

If Fitchburg is to have needed changes, positive approach should be the guide.

Why don't you do the world a favor, and stick to matters up there in the Granite State? After all, considering some of your childish, yet idiotic rants, you haven't shown much on the IQ scale, let alone anything the resembles any form of intelligence (which probably means you have nothing but BILE between your ears). Furthermore, your continuous attacks against me (calling me Red Balloon), shows you cannot read either, also the fact that by doing so is a form of Identity Theft!

If there is a "Red Balloon" it would be you....FULL OF HOT AIR!

So do the world a favor, and put up or SHUT UP!

HEY SENTINEL AND ENTERPRISE: When are you going to finally inform folks like Bileman are being repeatedly abusive and use the names of others to repeatedly abuse them in this forum?

Or do we have to do that work for you????

Now that is saying it all in the truth, like I've said before they should stay with the headlines on the 4th grade art awards! Maybe Lisa Wong can show them a thing or two, heh?!

First, this guy Hoover has had a very bad name in this area for many years. He's a scam artist - one scam right after the next. Classy and Jack Hoover do not belong in the same sentence. This will just be another "classy" establishment like the scummy place across the street.
Second, it is obvious that these posts are not monitored. The other day I was reading one (old age, can't remember what article now), and someone was posting total garbage and insults under user names: Lisa Wong, Dan Mylott, Hedley Bray, George Bush, etc. and obviously the posts were not from any of those people.

The commenting is managed by topix.net , there are "report abuse" buttons to flag if you think a post is. I expect that would be looked at and where abuse is, would be accounted for somehow.

Mr. Hoover resides in Leominster, where he had a problem with the LPD a while back.
