I'm sorry to see that there was another plane crash today in Fitchburg. Why dont they shut down that liability before more people get hurt?

They need a bigger airport and Fitchburg should accomodate them with land by exit 28! Fitchburg should be thinking long term!

Why don't they just shut down all the roads, Rt2, 495 93, 290 & 95. That way there will be no car accidents. The airport doesn't cause accidents, planes and pilots cause them. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. That airport is Fitchburgs biggest asset.

That land is not suitable and it is not entirely in Fitchburg, its a dumb idea drop it. It will never happen. Most of that area is protected state forest land. On top of that it would cost hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions to build a new airport. Drop the idea and move on to another stupid idea, you have enough of them.

The plane crashed shortly after takeoff. What does the airport have to do with that?

I guess my point is every year Fitchburg makes the news about a plane crashing into a building or a river or a road. It's not like the ceo of Starbucks or Wholefoods will be flying in soon to open a store under the bridge so all of the homeless can buy an orange chocolate mocha latte for $7.

And everyday there are car accidents. So your point is that if some big corporate CEO doesn't use the airport that it should be shut down? there are quite a few bigwigs that utilize the airport, both for business and pleasure. Plane crashes are unfortunate but that is not the fault of the airport.

Exactly. When a plane crashes all the skykings state it is the safest mode of travel because there alot more car crashes. Duh, obviously it is because there are not as many planes as cars but that doesn't mean it is safe. The airport needs to go for the safety of the residents.

Thats your argument? That airport is a vital part of the area. Several avaiation businesses operate out of the airport and there are quite a few pilots in the area. Several companies located in the area are there because of the airport. More people have been killed on Airport Rd (Crawford St.) than any other road, with the exception of the highways than anyother road in the area.

So your point is even driving to this stupid little airport is just as dangerous as flying from it?

I don't think the community will miss those aviation businesses and the 12 pilots.
