There once was a mayor named Wong, She thought any festivities were wrong. No wreaths or ornaments, not even a tree. Full Story

Saying something is "blacker than spades," is bordering on a racial slur. I, for one, would never use that language.

Your poem is in poor taste. Apparently you didn't grow up during the Depression, when the foolishness that you write about would be scoffed as unimportant.

If you want to celebrate Christmas, share the joy and wonder of the season with thoughts of good cheer. Even Ebeneezer Scrooge finally understood what Christmas was suppose to be about. Get a clue before it's too late for you!

No fan of Wongs, but this S&E fish wrapper is in desperate need of a new editor. Why would any respectable rag put such nonsense on it's pages?

What's the Lowell thing? She has no connections in Lowell. Why does that keep coming up?

That's it? I'm expecting the usual Wongers to come out whenever some say anything negative about her. Maybe they're all taking a break.

It's also a pretty bad poem. The meter is all over the place. A poem needs to have more structure. Let's try again:

There once was a mayor named Dan
Who had a diabolical plan
He'd spend lots of dough
Since he wouldn't hear "no"
From the councilors that ate from his hand.

But with economic distress
Ol' Danny Boy failed to impress
So he escaped in the night
Left the city in blight
Now Lisa must clean up his mess.

What a poor excuse for a poem. Go back to school and pay attention when the teachers start talking about poetry. I would be ashamed to put that type of "writing" down in black and white for the whole world to see. The Sentinel must be very desperate to find something interesting to publish when they include this kind of crap in their newspaper.

I can't believe something so badly written and insulting was printed. What's the point? Shame on the Sentinel.

Mike is your typical liberal, blame others. Dan was not mayoral material but he cares about the city. The guy is Fitchburg. We had services.

I love the priorities of the citizenry of Fitchburg. Nothing has spurred more comments than this Christmas light issue. Not the cuts to the police, fire, schools, DPW....none of it.

Wong lived with her parents just about the Andover, Lowell line.
And as far as Moyor Dan Mylott, he lived in Fitchburg, all his life and loved Fitchburg, and no matter right or wronge whatever he did he thought it was for the good of Fitchburg Like it or not

I don't agree with this poem as it was obviously mea wasnt in oposition to Mayor Wong. The roads are clear. She has been cutting cost. The street lights were controversial as the streets are dark and dangerous.
If everyone remembers Fitchburg was bankrupt before Mayor Wong. The Fitchburg Police department was a big part in the destruction of Fitchburg.
Everybody was stealing from this department and the treasury.

Taxi driver, you are so dumb. You can break even and provide the services to the taxpayers OR you can fill your piggy bank and ignore the taxpayers. Wong chose the latter. She doesn't care about the people or what they need. Can you say political ambition. The people of Fitchburg are nothing to her.

Tom: You are so dumb and mistaken. She's purchased a home here, and has been doing responsible things to help clean up this city. If she ignored taxpayers, she'd take the city's money and skip town for some place better than Lowell.

Instead, she sleeps in Fitchburg at night, and works in Fitchburg by day.

P.S. To those who've stated Dan M. loves Fitchburg, all I can say is, "Great. He almost loved up to death!"

Please quit with the very bad poems. Wasn't the original one bad enough? You are not a poet.

Who was your choice in the last election, Tom? Did you vote for Fuzzy, who appears to be a nice guy who has the city's best interest at heart, or for the guy who helped get us into this financial mess?
