I'm surprised the animal control officer even bothered to show up. Try calling her at any time and either she doesn't return phone calls, or doesn't follow up on tips. Her position is simply a waste of taxpayer money! Hey Ms Kowaleski, how bout going after all the pitbulls that run around with no leash? How bout going after their owners to follow the leash law? There are too many reported attacks by dogs not on leashes to ignore the problem. Answer your phone, do your jobs and lay off the Bon-Bons and soap operas!!

Susan is an excellent dog officer , she is one person and she does a good job, her job is one of the toughest ones in the city, she really has a big heart for animals, and their best interest at heart.

James Marshall was one of my best friends when we were kids. I lost touch with him in recent years, but I'm sure he didn't harm the dog. I hope no charges are brought against him, because he needs help and I hear he's getting it now. I hope the help he's getting really helps him. This is not the person I knew. I hope you get well soon Marshall!!!

Susan is a shitty dog officer!
My neighbors and I have been calling her for MONTHS on another, obviously mentally disturbed dog owner that is in our neighborhood. She doesnt return calls. She doesnt show up. Nothing. And this poor dog in is danger same as that poor GR obviously was. I am sure that there were "signs" and that neighbors called. Good ole Susan just doesnt care to do her freaking job.

Don't blame Susan! She's part-time and ALL of you know all the crap going on in Fitchburg; gangs, rapes, stabbings, murders, breeding & selling of pitbulls, dog-fighting, drugs, extreme poverty (take a drive around). Don't you remember when Susan was laid off and "we" had no animal control person???? Why would a control officer of such a messed up city be laid off? Then rehired only part-time? This is a POLITICAL/ PUBLIC OFFICE issue. Direct your anger at them...I certainly will.

She got laid off because she did a lousy job, and the public works dwpt. took it over, and did a better job.
She got rehired because she was in a union, and public works was understaffed

Whomever would let an animal decompose in their home has obvious mental issues and should seek help.
Although there may be no proof of the animal being mistreated, it was not in a good home or a clean home and should be be allowed to care of children or animals.

I thought this story was about my mom's basement. She's let me live there for a whole now and it smelled like cat pee and Doritos.
