Councilor Conry was way out of line last night. The way he treated Councilor Reynolds was very unprofessional and I feel she deserves a public apology.

The only person who should apologize in Reynolds for being the most moronic elected official ever! All Conry did was state what the rest of the council was thinking anyway. How about Reynolds grilling the FFD Chief about the "lack of qualifications" of one of the new fire fighters? What a total embarrasment! I watch these meetings just so I can see what stupid things that wack job will say.

Just because she is not a conventional councilor does not make her unqualified. I missed the part of the firefighters but when Ciota was talking about "some" councilors, had concerns, no one, if there were any, had the nerve to speak out. Dean Tran, who I also respect and like questioned why, Councilor Reynolds just has a more direct approach. She is not a phony, she is a lot smarter than you think. She did not deserve that treatment.

Who is running the City of Fitchburg, the Council and the Mayor or the legal deparment?

This exact same package of grant assurances was already passed by the Finance Committee. Nothing has changed. Why is this delay necessary?

At the airport commission meeting where the Memorandum of Understanding was signed, Mr. Barrett said the assurances would be on the mayor's desk the next day. That obviously hasn't happened.

Commission chairman Walker was not allowed to speak to inform counselors that there are indeed grants that are at risk and that needed work could get pushed back yet again.

The airport has met mayor's requirements. Let's get this show on the road.

Like Fitchburg really needs an airport. Let some private company buy it and maintain it rather than put taxpayers money into something they never use. Plus you may need a bomb shelter to protect from falling planes!

No one is running the City, that's part of the problem. As far as the Airport, keep their hands away from any money if possible, or it will grow wings like it did before

How many times does it have to be said that the airport has passed the FAA audits? That there's a different administration than the one accused of embezzling funds. The grant money will be watched by both the FAA and MADOT Aeronautics. Get over it.

If the City of Fitchburg owns the airport and land, the signing of the Grant Assurances will take decision making out of the City's hands and place it in the hands of the FAA, MAC, and Airport Commissioners. Read the Grant Assurances document and this language will be found. One Grant Assurance, obtaining money for improvements, leads to another and another over the years. Runway extensions/repairs leads to larger planes using them, then comes a new terminal building and more land taking for towers and lights. Yes, it's nice to get the money, but control is lost, and at what price.

The FAA is in the business of keeping airports open, just like DOT is in the business of keeping highways open. I'm sure that if the city tried to close off ramps from Rt. 2 they'd face consequences. If the FAA and MADOT are going to put millions of dollars into an airport, they're going to want to make sure their investment is is secure.

That being said, the airport management is doing an excellent job running the facility. The airport gets no money from the city's general fund and hasn't for years. Can that be said of any other city department?

Wong is trying to get the airport decommissioned so the land can be used as a gaming casino. It's worth the big buck penalties to them to have that much land in that prime location. That's why she came here in the first place. Look at her ties to the mob pr/lobbying firm Regan. They have their spider tentacles into everything. Think I'm fantasizing? Stay tuned for a few more years.
