GARDNER — A city police officer was arraigned today on charges that he molested a juvenile.
Gardner Police Officer Larry J. Landry, 35, of 38 Meadowbrook Lane, is charged with statutory rape of a child, indecent assault and battery on a child under age 14, and assault to rape a child. He is being held on $50,000 cash or $500,000 with surety bail in Worcester County Jail. He is due back in court Oct. 5 for a pretrial hearing.
Assistant District Attorney Brian D'Andrea told the court Officer Landry was arrested Monday after the juvenile told Gardner Police he had been molested by Officer Landry.
The molestation allegedly took place in Winchendon from the time the boy was in kindergarten until he was in the sixth grade. The boy and Officer Landry know each other.
After learning of the allegations, Officer Landry turned himself in to Gardner Police. He was arrested and placed on paid leave by Chief Neil Erickson.
In arguing for the high bail, Mr. D'Andrea said that because of the nature of the charges, Officer Landry is a severe flight risk.
In arguing for lower bail, Officer Landry's lawyer, Martin Kallio, said his client is 35 years old, is separated from his wife and has children ages 16, 11 and 6.
“He has been a police officer for 14 years — all of that honorable — and was acting sergeant for several months,” he said.
After the hearing, Mr. Kallio said his client denies every charge.
“These allegations are outrageous,” he said.“He denies them vociferously.”
He his client is doing well in dealing with the charges against him.
“His spirits are very high,” he said.“He's obviously concerned for his family.”
Members of Mr. Landry's family were in court, but left quickly after the hearing, shouting at television reporters as they left the building.

It is something in the water or maybe it is the chemicals from the furniture stripping. They have finally passed a city ordinance in Gadner so if you get divorced you are still cousins. This has been a long debated question for years now.

Is this for real?$50,000 cash bail? Michael, help this guy out will you? Make sure he gets his meds and treated properly! Even with such a high bail, the Chief gives him "paid leave", hey he is a 14 yr " veteran" of the force! Maybe when "veteran of the force" is mentioned they mean the "force" of Star Wars?

The Chief can't fire him right now as is with most employers. He's being accused, he's been arrained and thats it, you've been there many times Lynch you know the drill. Right now he's only been accused, he hasn't been indicted or tried yet. If he is indicted then the Chief can suspend him without pay and if he is found guilty the he will be offically fired. There are two sides to every story, if he did commit this crime as stated then fry him. He's not getting any special treatment because he is a cop.

they failed to mention that Officer Landry lives with his 20 year old boyfriend and that he was involved with the kid since he was a minor.

It's not because he is a cop it's because he is a member of a Union. At the moment he is accused of commiting a crime, remember this America, innocent until proven guilty. If he is indicted by a grand jury or his case proceeds to trial then the Chief can suspend him without pay until the case is over, then he can fire him when and or if he is found guilty. If he is found guilty his law enforcement career is over, he'll never be a cop anywhere.

But I bet he is guilty. He likes the young boys. His partner is fifteen years younger than he is. And I am thinking the victim is this guy's own son. I hope they throw the book at him.

they should have known something was up a long time ago. This cop was involved with the " police explorers" an organization that takes high school students and shows them how the police department is run. In the news clip, you see this cop with one of the kids, whose face is covered. I am pretty sure that kid is Landry's current boyfriend. He should have been fired a long time ago for using his job to seduce young boys.

The Cop Lovers may try to justify this one by using the ol' "The Stress Of The Job Made Me Do It" excuse. It's a favorite of Lawmen throughout our land: When you totally F up'; and it looks like things are going to start crumbling down on you; just blame job related stress for it all. It's a "Get Out Of Jail Free Card" that they use on a routine basis. And, it typically works like a charm for them.

Another favorite is "It's A Training Issue". That too; is one hell of a "get out of jail free card" for our nation's blueboys.

It has nothing to do with that he is a cop, he is just one sick mofo. If he did it, lock him up. General population. Ex cop child molester not a fun time in the can. Just like William COulter

The police share the same viewpoint as the Catholic Church when it comes to wrongdoing by one of their own: First, deny that it ever happened. Then, when you can't BS the general public; try to quietly get the offender to transfer to another site; where they can continue to do whatever the hell they were doing wrong. And, if the sh#t really hits the fan; have them quietly retire.....

This is how things typically play out when it comes to wrongdoing lawmen. But, when they get tied up in molesting children or a drunken vehicular homicide mess, for example, it is damn near impossible to simply sweep the whole ugly mess under the rug (as is standard practice).
