I just opened today's Times Herald Record and there on page 3 is a stunning description by Leonard Sparks. The person arrested was described as carrying "a small amount of Heroin", thereby only being charged with a misdemeanor. Have we become so jaded that we fail to recognize that ANY amount of heroin is extremely serious? I have heard from law enforcement that it is one of the most vicious, addictive, and fatal substances out there. It doesn't go away. You don't get over it. The life Of the user is forever chained to the filthy drug. How can any use be anything less than a felony? This isn't new, I know, but I have never heard of heroin being referred to so carelessly. Our casual acceptance of yet another thing we have decided 'we cannot change' does not bode well for society at all. Wake up! "THERE IS NO SMALL AMOUONT OF HEROIN"
