From the rules and regulations: "Firearms not allowed on fairgrounds, except for law enforcement officers."
As a lawful CHP holder, I guess myself, my family, and my family's $$$ will continue to sit this one out, this and every other venue that attempts to deny my right of lawful self-preservation in favor of catering to fearmongering hoplophobia.
I encourage every law abiding citizen to do the same, vote with your wallets and pocketbooks and perhaps eventually law abiding American citizens will be treated like adults again.

get a life it is a fair. Who needs fire arms at a fair????

"Get a life"?
No need to be rude as there is nothing wrong with standing up for one's 2nd ammendment right and voting with one's pocketbook. Surely that doesn't harm a soul.
As for a "need", ask the patrons at Luby's cafeteria in 1991, or the students at Virginia Tech in 2007 if they "needed" to be allowed to defend themselves when the unthinkable happens. And yes, it does happen.
I appreciate the 2nd ammendment, and the philosophy of "inalienable" rights, which means that all the "hoplophobes" (love that words btw) in the world cannot seperate lawful citizens from the right to defend themselves.
Hoplophobe, got this from some website:
"Individually, we do not bear arms because we are afraid. We bear arms
as a declaration of capacity. An armed man can cope - either in the city
or in the wilderness - and because he is armed, he is not afraid.
The hoplophobe fears and, yes, hates us, because we are not afraid. We
are overwhelmingly "other" than he, and in a way that emphasizes his
hoplophobia - n.- an irrational and morbid fear of guns, a term coined
by Jeff Cooper, from Greek "hoplites," weapon. Symptoms may include
discomfort, disorientation, rapid pulse, sweating, faintness and more,
at the mere sight or even thought of guns. Hoplophobes are common and
should never be involved in setting gun policies, though many are hard
at work in the rights-denial movement, and are arguably the greatest
threat in the debate. Point out hoplophobic behavior when you see it, it
is dangerous, and sufferers deserve pity. A hoplophobe (HOP-li-fobe) can
often be cured by training, or by a day at the range.

Not all people who attend fairs are law abiding citizens... as you seem to think. Criminals and potential criminals are everywhere in today's society, and they can be anywhere, including fairs. The parking area could be an unsafe place at these venues, not necessarily inside the fair grounds. If I was taking a family to this event, I would want to exercise my 2nd. Amendment right to be able to carry my weapon (gun).

Well said! I was considering going to the fair to take in some of the sights and such, but now I think I'll stay somewhere where I don't have to be involuntarily disarmed!

1) Terrible things can happen anywhere at any time. If we knew when and where they were going to happen, no one would ever be a victim because we wouldn't be there! The fair is just as likely a place as any to need to defend yourself.
2) You can make a law or post a sign prohibiting guns anywhere you wish, but the only people that would keep from doing so are, by definition, the LAW ABIDING citizens. The criminals aren't going to see the sign and say "Gosh, I was gonna shoot a couple people, but since there are no guns allowed I guess I'll do it elsewhere."
3) The right to defend yourself against the unthinkable should not be curtailed by ANYONE. I'll close by saying the following: I'd be willing to bet if the bad guys thought every good guy was armed and willing to defend himself there would be a lot less crime!
I apologize for any typographical errors as I am posting on a mobile device!

Well I hear attendance at the Greene county fair was down by about 4,000 people from last year.

I emailed them an elongated version of my post above just to see what they'd say. I'll re-post when and if I get a response.
