Dude, you did something wrong to get that ticket. Accept it, pay it and move on.

I have friends who vacation in OB every summer and I have NEVER heard anything but praise for the OBPD.

EVERYONE on LI knows the corruption of the OBPD. Hey Mayor, SEVEN civil rights lawsuits were a warning sign. Guess you missed it in the summer glare.

At the time, Ocean Beach Mayor Joseph Loeffler said the settlements did not indicate wrongdoing on the part of the Police Department, but were "an economic decision."
==========

So then why are the courts' findings and the details kept secret?

As a year round resident of Ocean Beach, I would like to set the record stright.
1)the man in question was so drunk he was nasty, when his wife arived at the police station she was stated that he is a bad drunk and when he does drugs it is that much worse.

2)When he was being looked at by EMS he was so combative they could not use a helo. to get him to the hospital.

3)His blood alchol was 3 times legal amount.

4)And he was thrown out of 2 bars for touching women and fighting before being brought to the police station.

As far as the law suit The officers were not fired, they were not rehired to there part time jobs. Why did they wait almost 2 years to complain.

I never understood why people go there anyway, all the deer ticks, and fagalas. The food is overpriced and sucks, and the bars are only OK.

Where there is smoke there is fire.

Small town Police Chiefs usually end up with out of control egos.

Maybe it is time to bing in Gay or Lesbian Police Chief and make the department more reflective of the diverse community they are serving.

I bet some of my 'fans' were waiting for me to post. Let me say I haven't a clue what is going on in OPD. Wouldn't surprise me if they were ALL nefarious scoundrels. The question is if there was wrongdoing then what took so long to investigate it?

The DA is once again going outside of his OWN police department to uncover wrongdoing. Complaints of brutality - my gosh, they must really run a top notch PD out there is Yaphank.

They call this type of prosecuting : Selective prosecution. I call it 'deflecting and delaying' bigger issues by sacrificing other PDs to show the public the DA is right on top of things.

This DA brought his OWN favored cop to the stand in the case of my son in law to LIE throughout as to what the duties of a police officer are at a suspected burglary scene.

When this perjurer saw three police officers in the audience that knew him, and had to know they heard and saw him lie, he chased them in the hallway and chewed them out for exercising their rights to be in a courtroom. All they did was to come in and listen to the case. They showed no support for the defendant other than sitting on the side where most of those in support of the defendant sat. Those officers were required to send a letter to the Police Commissioner the next day. It was nothing more than to intimidate them into not speaking of what they witnessed: LIES!

The witness who lied was once himself of beating a suspect for a confession on a burglary charge. He was accused of bringing the suspect to an empty lot, handcuffing him to the rear, lifting him up by those arms and causing permanent nerve damage. He then knock out the man's teeth with a blackjack. The Judge threw the case out because the police witness was not credible in the judge's estimation. The 'victim' only got 85K in a civil suit. After this 'scathing' report, unlike Lloyed Harbor, The SCPD and the DA did absolutely NOTHING to the officer. It was reported the officer who couldn't have had much more than 5 years in the PD at the time amassed over 18 complaints with his partner.

There is another classic story that everyone in the courts knows about. A certain individual ( I know who he is, but the evidence is not of a judge's ruling) attempted to get a confession from a burglary. Brought him to a cememtary with an open grave for the next day burial and stuck a gun in the mouth of the person. He got the confession.

OK, the beating wasn't on SPOTA'S WATCH, but he sure knew where to go to the bottom of the barrel to pick out a cop who was willing to lie for him by bringing in Lt. James Hickey.

I have the record of a detective who interviewed Hickey about four months before the trial and his notes clearly state: Lt Hickey has NO RECOLLECTION OF THE INCIDENT - I am referring to King Kullen.

But why should a minor little detail bother the Great Tom Spota.

Fact is his ADA said in summation at the trial in question that they KNEW their witness Careccia spoke a mistruth when he said Eddie Wright was at King Kullen, but it went to the credibility of his office that they allowed him to say it. It showed 'evidence' of their not feeding the witness?????? He just didn't bother to correct his witness when he testified to it on Direct. Oh, well.

These folks who pretend to uncover other misdeeds only do so to keep their crimes under the covers. By that I mean DISTRICT ATTORNEY THOMAS J. SPOTA.

Mo, way to spread lies about something you have no idea about. Typical OB pretentious crap. God forbid someone comes and drinks in your precious little town...which BEGS people to come and drink at one of its 10+ bars in a 2 block area.

This is amazing news, I can't wait to see this go down. That piece of crap Hesse tried to jeopardize my career and I will see to it that he burns.

It is amazing the amount of self appointed lawyers that have been responding to this story. Sorry that all the legal knowledge you people get are from Law and Order. Civil and criminal investigations take more time than 44mins.

The DA has been investigating the complaints from individuals for years. The complaints from the cops took time as well. Its called building a case. The better the case, the easier to have a plea agreement, and the faster its off the court calendar.

And all the "I have been here for years, and Hess is great, and those cops are bad" comments: stop. You know what the deal is in OB - you want the best of both worlds; you like the seasonal business but hate the fact that it takes professional management to deal with the amount people. Hopefully this will bring about some professional change to the town, so everyone can enjoy this place safely.

Oh and Hess - we won. After all, as you know we are lawyers...scumbag

P.S - Hey Hesse, maybe you'll think twice next time about breaking in someone's house and jumping one guy with 5 of your cop-thug buddies. Oh yeah, who won that fight anyway? ;)

I just wish the best for George Hess, he was always a good guy for all I know. THe guy who was injured....... don't throw beer bottles into the street without expecting to be arrested.... and when the cops let you out continue to be a drunk ass... whether I'm guilty or not, show respect to police, they are just doing their job. To the cops that were released? Go find another job and shut up. You became a part time O.B. police officer because you couldn't get a real cop job. Go get a job like the rest of us and shut the hell up.$325 million.... this country is a disgrace.

Nan, nah, nah, nah
Nah, nah, nah, nah

hey, hey, hey,
good byyyyyyyyeeee.

Only a matter of time till those criminals get a taste of their own medicine.

I personally watch a friend get beat down by OBP.
He sued, and got some good money.
BUT1111 Part of his settlement is that he can't talk about his case unless called to court.

There are many victems, but they are paid to stay quiet.
