I agree with this ladys statement 100%
Hello, I work for the town of Patchogue and have been employed for 20 years with them. I attended the event Saturday and Sunday and witnessed many of these accused inebriated Volunteers drinking alcoholic beverages in public view.
It saddens me greatly what happened but thinks could have been much worse with the poor decision making of the local emergency response personal in change that day. What if an tragic event happened on shore we would have had dozens of volunteers incapable of administering first aid due to there state of mind and condition.
I know first hand this is typical behavior for the Patchogue Fire Department there firehouses are used mostly for booze infested drinking parties.
I would hope Patchogue and the sound rounding emergency personal will monitor the behavior of members more careful.

these speedboat races should be banned..every time I watch "Amazing Videos" on TV there is a horrable wreck involving these boats..is this type or racing necessary? There is too much going against these boats, a slight ripple overturns them.
There is so much wrong with your statement I dont even know were to start. First, you’re a complete idiot. Maybe you need to get a clue before posting on a topic you know nothing about.

I seen 2 car accidents this week, should we ban those 2, how about street bikes are they next on your list comrade? Than maybe we should stop all people from Mt.Biking I have seen some pretty crazy wrecks with them too.

Also these boats are Offshore Race Boat! Not Hydro’s or flat bottoms, they are made to handle 4-6ft seas at High Speeds and they do not "flip in the slightest ripple" lets let the investigation finish before blame is pointed.

I attended the Friday night events on Main Street in Patchogue the local Patchogue Emergency Medical & Fire personal were all over Main St, they were trying to grub free stuff of the Geico booth. Geico did not give in. The entire time the Patchogue Fire Department was unprofessional and carelessly drunk Friday night.
I feel if your going to wear you Volunteer Fire Departments crest – stay sober these volleys were so bombed they were stumbling in & out of bars on Main Street. If there was an emergency Friday night they would have been attended to drunk by the Patchogue volleys.
Generally speaking in Patchogue the residents are missing one chromosome anyway they area is loaded with trailer park true trash.
I would hope the volunteer will look at this and improve on there overall character.

ISP Addresses is NOT how they track you - IP adresses is what they use and you can post using all different names and different ISP's, but they will catch you. Good Luck!! No one is anonymous!

I am absolutly shocked and taken back by whats been said here. I am also a Relative of Phil Dejana and a Friend of Kevin Graff. I really cannot believe the things people (cowards) will type while hiding behind their computers. These were two respectable, good, hard working men who were racing at a sanctioned race. They were doing what they enjoyed the most and were not in any way careless about their boating. HOW DARE any of you low lifes say that they deserved what happened to them. I defy any of you loud mouth losers to stand in front of the families and friends that buried them today and make these discusting comments. Shame on you!!
Thank you to the well wishers! Thankyou to the other racers that showed at the wake. Thank you to hundreds of mourners that showed up and showed us how much these men were really loved! Thank you to the Coast Guard and Rescue Personal who responded properly and tried to save them. I'm sorry to the Vollys of Patchogue who are getting blame here. If they were drinking on standby, thats another issue to be addressed by the Fire Department, not me. Thank you to Kevin and Uncle Phil for being in my life. Rest in Peace.

We do drink a few beers to kick back, it does not effect our job. Drinking 2 beers does not affect judgement at all.
I was working Sunday shift and personally drank 2 beers all day, not bad. Other members had a few but no one was drunk.
I even gave a few beers away to the locals.
Remember this at your deposition.

Lynn - first, let me offer condolences!! As for the rude and untrue comments regarding the Vollies of Patchogue - this individual has been abusing all of the threads with this and other nonsense. Pay no attention - nobody else does! This person has been reported and I'm sure we will not see too much more from him.

You know, in the overall scheme of things, Holtsville is not a very big place. I mean a Post Office with three parking spots???

To have five or six different names posting from the one location stretches credibility. Till it breaks.

In response to FDNY Capt. Jackson. I "was there", I hardly believe that you were. Maybe you were watching from shore.
Any FD/EMS divers & boat crews that were on duty were not drinking. The rescue was text book under those circumstances (black water conditions). From the time the boat overturned to, and the arrival of both patients to the hospital was 14 minutes. It doenst get any better than that. Unfortuntely, both men had major trauma (head, neck) and basically no life signs when they were pulled out of the water.
Please have the facts before you post, you sound like a paid firefighter with an agenda (If you're even a paid firefighter at all)

I was actually there and seen the boat flip while making the turn. I seen all the Li Volly scrambling all over from car to truck looking for equipment and yelling at each other. They actuall did nothing besides create a total unforfessional rescue zone. Some VF were drinking as I witness and that was uncalled for. Stop trying to stick up for the few trash on the VFD and corupt members

LOL, I really doubt this Kelson person was even there. Her posts look like there coming from a nine year old. Maybe the FF's you saw drinking and enjoying the event (while listening to the action on their radios) were off duty. You just assumed they were on duty.

You're right though, the Vol. FD's and Ems did nothing (as you say) except rescue 2 victims trapped under water in a boat, transport them to land and to the hospital within 14 minutes. That's alot more than you'll probably ever do in your life.

But please, continue to type lies to make yourself feel good.

Stay safe up there in New Rochelle!

1. I never took the test. Although FDNY has great hours, I make too good of money.

2. My Vol FD had about 20-25 active FDNY and about 5 retired.

Keep trying!

I have spoken to people who were their on the rescue. These poor souls were lost when the boat flipped over. The water hit them so hard that it took their helmets off. The best that can be done is to see what happened and try to prevent it from occuring again in the future to someone else. They were two great guys who touched many lives and I will miss them.

I was told the boat flipped on it's own due to rough sea's and the Ambulance took forever to get to the locating.(I thought ambulance were always on stand-by for things like this) I see EMT at basketball games and football games why not for a offshore race boat event ? Humm
All the safety precautions and rescue on the water was there as it should have been. The reason an ambulance couldn't get there in a timely manner is because the Village of Patchogue didn't manage traffic and suspend parking effectively.

We can prevent it and the enormous cost of life and resources by not having it
