thats not what happened. i was there. the boat was going around a turn when it flipped over. it didnt collide with the jetski. the jetski was a seperate incident that occured at the same time as this one. this was confirmed by the fire department when i spole with them. im not sure about the condition of the man on the jetski although he was getting in an ambulance. the 2 men in the boat were taken to the hospital with severe injuries, one of them recieving cpr as he was being driven to shore. i dont know what their current conditons are

i forgot to also say that when the boat flipped over, the men in the boat were trapped inside because the access hatch was bent and rescue workers could not reach them easily. there was also apparently equiptment failure as the air tank in the cockpit of the boat that supplies emergency oxygen did not work.

The two in the race boat died. There a report from channel 4 news says the accident was due to rough seas (choppy).

Great Newsday no details of what boats were involved ?
It wasn't the Geico boat or the Wicked Marine boat, but it was in the higher class, Xtreme, or 100. It was tough to tell, but it may have been the Aero Express. I believe the boat was split apart, according to people on the CB radio.

The whole course was empty. There were Marker Buoys where spectators could be. It was a sanctioned event, police, CG, Coordinators. It wasn't a bunch of idiots racing on their own time. The course was safe from rec. boaters. In fact there was a huge turnout of rec. boaters anchored more than 200 yards from the course, you couldn't get to the track on accident, you'd have to be an idiot, and even then you'd be chased off by the police!

Everyone was there C.G., Bayport, Patchouge, S.C.P.D., ETC.... They were two miles from shore it does take a while to get back and forth not like miss gieco in 30 seconds. Especially with an injured boater on the boat. GOD BLESS THE FAMILIES OF THE LOST ONES!

Yeah i saw them make the turn and the boat completley flipped and stayed cap sized

Coast guard got there very fast but yet i dont think there was to much hope of the 2 people surviving after impact and being trapped upside down after that(Even though now its confirmed they passed away) The boat was a capsule so they werent at risk of drowning right?

According to Ben above, it was the Aero Express. There were ambulances, the race helicopter was on scene immediately, the coast guard was all over the course, I was in the boat spectator section.....the course was chaperoned very well by all emergency departments. It was just a tragic accident. The fact that no spectators were involved shows what a good job the event coordinators, coast guard, and suffolk county police did in keeping the public safe.

Ambulances stand by at events when the officials running the events request them. They are also mostly VOLUNTEERS, so they dont usually go around cruising to find any random place to park and waste hours of their day waiting for someone to get hurt. When people feel they are needed, they give up their time, for free, to be there.

I'm really getting sick of people always putting blame on the voluntter emergency services. Dont talk shit untill you put in 20 hours a week of your free time running into burning buildings or pounding on someone's chest bringing them back to life or getting woken up at 3am for someone with a splinter.

My heart goes out to all those involved in this tragic accident.

The emergency personnel responded instantly. They did a good job IMO.

It was Aero Express formerly Dirty Duck that crashed. Very sad that they passed.
