What right does the state have to get into this kind of offensive requirement? It's none of their business. It's beginning to seem as if we should start practicing saying "Heil Hitler" again. This is worse than what Hitler would have done.

You might not like it there, people tend to have an open mind and not be so judgemental.

Try one of those Christian theme parks, might be more of what you're seeking.

Saltaire sounds like a good family place that's also far enough away from the disordered same-sex attracted sodomites that inhabit The Grove and The Pines. Or the riff-raff magnets that Kismet and Davis Park have become.

Then go to the Hamptons where all the real down to earth, laid back folks are.

Are you kidding? Spoken by someone who can't live without their McD's, high speed internet and cable TV.

Wake up, there's more to life!

Saltaire bites, like many of these communities on fire island. The people think they can do whatever they want. They should drop a bomb, level the island, and rebuild.

Haven't seen too many "McMansions" in my summers in that part of Fire Island...we don't live there and we visit every summer. We're "comfortable" but far from rich, my husband and I are both college educated, BLUE collar workers who just know how to spend our money wisely, not squander it on crap we (and our kids) don't need like many.

A share in the house we rent is $700 per week. Cheaper than the over commercialized Disney trips most other fools feel compelled to go "for the kids". There are very few souveniers to purchase on the island, just fresh air, sunshine and beautiful water. And because its only accessible by boat, it does tend to keep out some of the obnoxious day trippers.

Sounds like your experiences on the island consist of happy hour at Flynns...

screw the beach and all the jews that live there. they should all go back to the city and live there. sure they pay taxes-- all the homes are "listed" on their certificate of occupancy as "seasonal residences" but in reality they are full blown mc mansions. try and visit the place- you can't unless you live there. and as far as those "wonderful" little brats that run around getting their parents wall street journal.. well let's say there ought to be a leash law. isn't mario posillico from the same posillico family that ran the south west sewer district, and ran away with all the money to a carribean island? god help them all if a real nys code enforcement officer spent some time over there.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. They like their incorporated village and paying extra taxes to keep one - so let it be.

Dering Harbor on the island of Shelter Island has a even smaller population last time I checked it had only 13 full time residents. I believe they still use town services but have their own governing body.

Just like the degenerate government trying to steal more freedom from the people. Why in the world would bigger government be better? In Vermont, a secessionist movement is taking root to remove the entire state from the corrupt US empire. These folks should never give up their local sovereignty. Join the revolt. Second Vermont Republic.

Actually, the village was told to disband its "security department" after they tried to pass it off as a full service police department.
