This Fire was a disaster and total chaos by the fire departments and made worse by the lack of planning and lack of prevention by locals in mgt and fire depts .This is why we need paid full time Fire Districts around Long island. We now have a bunch of inexperience fire fighters who rarely get a fire to respond to or real emergency they are either a bunch of kids or fat overweight men. We need full time paid departments, and professionals, this slow response time will cost life's and property. This could have been much worse and they are lucky it was not!

I agree with you on some points, like over weight guys that dont see many fires, but the Pines is on FIRE ISLAND, its asummer community mostly vacant @ this time of the year. The Fireman had to come over by boat and around by bridge and drive on the beach.

Stop complaining maybe this will thin the herd,no wonder very few live there putting up with that crap all summer. My property should sell this summer if I can find someone stupid and make them think the boys have found another spot to ruin.Maybe the same firemen were thinking of the scum they have to deal with all summer long and thought letting t burn to the ground would be a blessing.
