This won't have any effect at all on supply, it was too small of an operation. This bust was for the press or the 2 guys finally rubbed someone the wrong way. The DEA knew of a $625K/year operation for 8yrs, the fire dept found the operation twice over that time period and nobody got busted. This was small time non-sense.

<quoted text>These people are the scum of the earth. They sell drugs to our children and destroy neighborhoods and lives, since when has doing drugs lead to any thing good moron. They belong in jail.
Shut the hell up....first off you live in CI..crack haven...if you were so worried about the drugs and crime why dont you move somewhere better..and 2nd..this was high grade pot...something your normal kid wouldn't be able to afford, especially if you live in central islip...most of these buyers were your normal day mothers, fathers, teachers and doctors.
So rather try to fix the drug problem, start with educating your children instead of leaving them to run around the streets because you have to watch a good program on TV and could care less. The problems these days all stem from the parents...start cracking kids asses, pulling out their dam hair, breaking out the leather belt or even the ole' wooden spoon and put fear back into these kids from doing something against the law...

So at the ripe old age of 21 you are a functioning pot head. Big deal, many alcoholics function just fine for a very long time as well, it is usually attributed to youth. Keep up your habits and let me know how you are doing in 20 years and if your family enjoys to have you around and how many car accidents you caused.
I've been smoking for 35 years and I am at the top of my profession, more succesful now than ever before.

Life in prison? For growing pot? Granted, it's a whole lotta pot, but still ... that's kinda harsh, ain't it?
It's equally as harsh as sending an ADDICT to a mandatory 5-year prison sentencef or possession of 5 grams of Crack cocaine vs sending. them to
intense rehab. I know, I know medicinal purposes for marijuana, boo hoo hoo. The law is the law--BOOMERANG!

Life?? For a plant that can be used medicinally, and the hemp that could be harvested as a wood and fiber source.
Al Capone didn't even get life.
Why are murderers and rapists out of jail, and you're worried about marijuana? What about the drunk drivers? Shouldn't they get life?
Screwed up laws that were put in place too long ago!
Well maybe (since there is a lot of sympathy for these people) that will all change. Yet, I can't help but wonder what the reaction would've been had this been in another community?

Great Question! Looking at some of the sympathy,
