Why should the taxpayer of NY pay for something most will never use...Borrow the money, Sell it privately... With the town
involved there's always wasted money... Lets face it most Local State and Federal governments could not run a corner lemonade
stand! 2.5 million on a grocery store come on get real it will lose money every year!

The problem here is another real estate seller who is in denial of the propery value. Take the profit from the store and the profit from the 5 rentals, multiply by 5 or 6 if you are lucky and that is the value. Far less I am sure than 2.5 mil or someone would pay up. After all you get a monolpy store, but then how much can you sell to a comunity of 400 homes in a 15 week season? Not one penny of public money should go to this venture. It does not in anyway shape or form impact enough people to warrent the use of taxpayer funds!

Let it close. There are more important issues at hand then to keep a Snooty Village Grocery Store from Closing.

People bring their own food because No one in their right mind would spend $12.00 for a jelly sandwich.

Revamp the one store bussiness area for $2.5 million that services ten full time families. You gotta love the hutspa of the Saltaie politicians, they can say it with a straight face "This project is for the good of the public". The sad thing is many projects just like this for special people will be slipped in.

What a waste of taxpayer money, 2.5 million dollars to upgrae a store that is only used 4 months a year for a very samll population group. There has to be better projects to spend this money on.

Let the owners of this store rebuild it! It's their business and it's their property!. Or let the good people of Saltaire and the other communities of Fire Island have a fundraiser and raise funds to do so. I really don't care if they bulldoze it to the ground!

I hate to tell you this but the hedge fund people, etc are the taxpayers. Maybe it is time for the people who pay the taxes to actually get some of it back.

Mzybe a big wave will wipe out the moronic thinking of these folks. I've been to Saltaire, and if you look at one of the "natives" wrong, they look down their nose like you're from another country. Let the store fail, and let them raise a new one, like the Amish. They need to ban together to help themselves, not pinching those already stressed for their community center.

Talk about unmitigated gall! These village officials should be investigated and prosecuted for trying to rob the New York State Treasury. Former Governor Blago should buy a million dollar house in this place, he'd fit right in.
