Steve Levy should remain resolute. No hiring halls!! Hiring halls subsidize illegal immigrants by lending an aire of legality to them. These criminals broke the immigration laws of this country. They don't care about the welfare of America. Patriotism has no meaning for them. Just look at the flags they adorn their homes and cars with. Honduras, Guatamala, Ecuador etc. All they care about is how many american dollars they can earn and send back to their native country. Their illegal residence here causes health, human, public, and education costs to spiral upward because they believe they are entitled to all these taxpayer funded services completely free of charge while they themselves pay no tax. The ultimate effect this has is the same as a parasitic bacterium entering a healthy host. It will consume the host causing sickness and if left untrerated possible death. This is the effect the illegal immigrant workforce has on the American economy. Studies have shown illegal immigrants use about $33,000 per year in public services but only contribute about $12,000 back into that economy. In other words every illegal immigrant in this country costs american taxpayers $21,000 a year. It is time to stop this madness. It is time to put Americans back to work. America should fortify her southern border and immediately begin to take aggressive measures to keep further illegals from entering. Then America should concentrate on finding the ones already here, arresting them, and then deporting them. If something isn't done, and soon, America will be no better than the third world sewers most of these illegals come from.

Will these Albany politicians EVER realize that the vast majority of the people of NY DO NOT want illegals roaming our towns and burdening our services?
The PC garbage that's gone on for years now has allowed elected officals to take public stands to support illegal activity and lawlessness.
Politicans that aren't listening to the ground swell of popular support for enforcement of our existing laws hopefully will be voted out of office.
Newspapers, such as Newsday, that always side with the illegals will continue to lose readers...
This illegal alien madness has got to stop before the country is destroyed.

Oh don't worry...Ramos will put this in Brentwood...Right on 5th Avenue, or Wicks Rd, or Broadway and destrot our already declining property values. He has left the BYA to die, he has turned his back on the horrid school district... Ramos is sticking his chest out like he's a winner. Well in November he'll be a loser and he can go the way of the others. Time to take Brentwood back! Pete McGowan tried to destroy it and now Ramos?? No way not this time !!!

Let's see, Hiring Hall (a day labor hangout) for ILLEGALS (people who don't belong here)....hmmm...makes sense! Oh, and at my tax money expense....hmmmm.....someone's bright idea.....must be college educated. Such a waste of their parents money.

For the life of me I just can't understand why all of these public officials, who took an oath to uphold the law (among other things), cannot grasp that illegal immigrants are breaking the law. It's on par with saying that crack dealers should have their own designated spot to sell crack because it keeps it off the streets, irregardless of the fact that they are conducting an illegal activity. I voted for Levy when I was overseas in the Navy and will continue to vote for him as long as he keeps up his good work on the home front. Kick these law breakers out!

What next... a Crack Hall to get the drug dealers off our streets and into a location to sell their goods?

Does this whole issue make sense to anyone? WHY are OUR elected officials working to make ILLEGAL activity committed by ILLEGAL ALIENS something NORMAL?

Time to REVOLT folks before it's to late... government has gone wild... and the framers of the Constitution saw this when they drafted it! Time to unelect these people... time to TAKE BACK OUR GOVERNMENT!

Steve Levy doesn't want to offend his party in power in Huntington Long Island NY,so he has ignored a huge controversy there.

The Huntington Town Hall is run by the Democrats. Supervisor Petrone and the town board have for over 7 years been giving tax dollars to the Huntington Station Enrichment Center to pay rent and to maintain the area's day laborer site.

The total cost of operating the site through the enrichment center with taxpayer money is $115,000 a yr. While this is going on the enrichment center only receives $10,000 a yr of our tax money for programs for the community's children, many who are Hispanic and Black.

The Internal Revenue Service no longers lets the town pay the enrichment center's vouchers and it may have to close it's doors for good. Seems the enrichment center failed to pay any payroll taxes.

Ironic that the IRS isn't going after the town of Huntington for promoting and funding with our tax money an illegal tax avoidance scheme.

As always the poor children actually do suffer while our slumlords and politicians and certain corrupt businesses grow fatter with wealth everyday.

For the minority caucus and Spitzer to threaten Long Islanders that we better have a day laborer site or hiring hall or else we lose our state taxpayer funding, is as undemocratic and illegal as one can get.

It's also morally wrong. Put a day laborer site in Spitzer's backyard or Espaillat or Ramirez or Ramos or how about in Schummer's back yard. Let them deal with the crime and corruption, the undesirable foreigners and businesses who take advantage and abuse the system of government and laws we already have in place.

Levy should go to Richie Schaefer and tell him to tell Spitzer to keep the State out of this local issue or he will consider defecting to the GOP and bring all the patronage jobs he controls with him.

I am sick and tired of our elected officials playing games with our laws. It is against the law to work off the books and not pay taxes. They cannot seem to get it through their pinheads that a hiring hall will just allow this lawlessness to thrive and hurt the rest of the community who work, pay taxes and follow the law. It is so simple, a caveman could understand it!

This is the future of Long Island if the democrats take the Senate next year and there won't be anything the LI delegation can do about it.

I am an African American. I applaud Levy for all he has done for Long Island and the American cause even though I reside in Nassau County. Where is this Black Caucus and where can I write or call to them to belt out my frustration, disappointment and "sick of you" attitude to them. Please someone, let me know where I and many more blacks can contact them. Also, I am surprised that Puerto Ricans have joined in this. they are legal because Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the U.S. I have several Puerto Ricans friends who are just as surprised and mad as hell over their involvement.

I agree, I am black and I would like the contact information too. I voted for Levy and continue to support him. I never and will never vote for Ramos. He is not for people of color or for Long Islanders. His concern are Latino issues only.

"The 46-member Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus wanted Levy to back a hiring hall in Suffolk."
Just wait till the 30 Million Illegal's and their newly arriving family's start voting...!!!! I won't take a genus to figure out what's next for Long Island's future.
Mr. Levy Pass enforce all our laws and make new one's to defend and save our way of life. When the illegal's come here legally that's another story.

Phil Ramos is out of touch with the voters. He voted for homosexual marriage and now wants to force a hiring hall in exchange for supporting the enabling legislation for Suffolk's share of the sales tax.

The latter appears to be unethical and may violate the state's ethics law. Furthermore, it clearly violates our immigration and labor laws. We would ask Phil Ramos and the NYS Assembly Black & Hispanic Caucus to reconsider their tactics.
