Just check out the sizes of the photos and which
photo appears to get *top billing*. Looks to me
like FHU is a big part of Chester County gov'ment...and is as important as that little old courthouse.(to the powers that be)

Just a note: Speaking of that little old courthouse,
the wife of one of the judges graduated from FHU and was/or still is Associate Prof. of Accounting at FHU. His sister-in-law is a retired employee of FHU...and his daughter graduated from FHU.
Please don't get me wrong, I am not implying anything....just saying.

I do understand the importance of FHU and what history it has in Henderson. I will never try to take away from what they do or what they stand for. It is here to stay..and its evident they have lots of control and use it to their liking. If you have lived here long; you know this is true.
Still,I am hung up on how the controller of FHU is making our decisions. Let me give an example of what that would be like in modern terms: If the CEO of APPLE was also the vice president of Samsung...can you see what i'm saying, It's just impossible for this combination to be best for the townspeople, and most certainly not the fairest either.

I understand where you're coming from. I feel your frustration. Just fully realize what you're up against. Here's an example for
for you:

Trent Scott- President is Alumni FHU
Russell Epperson- Vice President is employed by FHU as the Human Resources Director

LOL, many Chester County Christians will be more suprised as to where they themselves ended up, than who did make it to Heaven.(and I'm not just talking 'bout CofC)

We are going to get to the bottom of who it is that is allowing FHU to make our local government decisions. I want to know who, when, where, and why. I will be making lists of all city and county officials and doing research on who is doing the secret negotiations with FHU. So watch out, we are going to fix this one way or another.
Back to the original point of the FHU witchhunt, I just have to point out how last week's voting went. In a popular vote- where every citizen has an equal say- Henderson voted down package liquor retailers. Maybe it's not just the school who influences local decisions. Maybe there is a broader group of people with similar morals who care about the community. You use the term secret negotiations. City and county officials are elected into office, and issues such as the liquor make it to a ballot for the citizens to vote. Conspiracy theories are nice and all, but reality deserves some consideration too.

Wonder how those same people would vote on having Jack Daniels or Anheuser-Busch building distilleries in Henderson....lol, they'd be in a real quandary!. Hmm,...jobs or evil spirits on their hands.

Jack Daniels starts out at about $19.00 an hour. I will take the jobs anyday.

Ok, glad you brought the liquor vote up. Much like obama did to get re-elected, FHU has MAJOR influence in several local churches which contain large numbers of people which equals lots of votes. I have no doubt sermons were preached on alcohol, and these people received encouragement to vote to keep it out. All it took was organization of a few of these large groups being influenced by yep.. you guessed it..FHU people that are highly respected and leaders in these churches and down the tax went. Funny how it passed in the county and not in the city. To me that seems like a premeditated compromise to keep the people happy. Yes the voting may have been legit but when someone inside the town government organizes and 'works the crowds' to get the desired result, then is the voting really fair? As I said before about obama, many of us are so depressed about the tactics he used to get re-elected
when clearly he wasn't the popular candidate...I kinda get that same bad feeling in my gut that America got worked just like henderson. It just gives you a sense that; what good did my vote do?

I started this topic and have every right to voice my opinion, so if you have something negative to say or just love to argue then start your own topic on how arguing will help this town!

FHU does hurt our town in alot of ways. The students make up a large volume of the city's population. The fire dept is run ragged answering calls at the college with no monetary support from them.

Ok some of you know me and some dont. I dont care who likes me down there and who doesnt. I was a resident of Chester county for 17 years. I learned alot about corrupt small town BS. Unlike alot of you guys I have lived outside of Chester County and the state of TN. I have lived in some towns that are smaller than Henderson and I have lived in some metroplexes like Dallas and Atlanta... I have never experienced more government corruptionĀ or a lack of seperation of church and state. I truely love Chester County and MOST of the PEOPLE there. BUT there ia a SERIOUS problem there with FHU and the way that small businesses are treated in that town. I opened a computer repair service in Henderson in Jan of 2011 on S. Church. Within two weeks I had some mid aged man come in my shop and tell me if I wanted to continue to run my business in Henderson that I had better NOT work on ANY computer for ANY FHU student. I do not know who it was as he did not tell me who he was. I did get curious as to why exactly FHU did not want me to work on the students computers... I figured it out. There is so much more to this... When I rented 309 S. Church from Lymon Parsons, he was going to give me a 1 year lease.. But for some reason he decided to avoid giving my business a lease.. so I moved.. duh.. Now move forward a year and I moved to a bigger building on 45 and got 3 silent investors and was in the process of opening a pet and pet supply store in Henderson. I know that most people do not like snakes in any manner and I have nothing but respect for that. BUT there is ALOT of money in snakes.. One of my investors aquired a high volume breeding operation of African Natal Rats ( class 3). These rats are smaller than domestic rats and have softer fur and are the natural prey for all African snakes.. I was in short told my another mid aged man flat out that FHU did not want my snakes or rats in Henderson amd to get rid of them of else.. I told him to leave my place of business and not return... this was a Thursday afternoon. Friday morning the CCSD arrested me for a FALSE theft report filed with the city. The sheriff and chief deputy both told me that I should not have been arrested and that AT BEST it was a civil matter.. Now the judge has had to recuse himself and Al Earls KNOWS he should dismiss but wont... so ive got the city or county after me for opening a business and generating tax dollars for the city counry and state. I will be fine.. after im done here and gone.. but I do worry for the people of Chester County thar are stuck there with that horrible school and government. It is not really that hard to get out... also spend your money in Jackson where it is appreciated.

Back when I went to CCHS we weren't even allowed to have a prom because of this lack of separation of church and state. From what I was told, there is a law on the books against dancing within the city of henderson. I have also traveled all over this country and have never encountered such a backwards way of thinking. Basically, if you aren't COC, not only are you going to hell, but you are going there broke because they don't give a damn if revenue is generated as long as their belief system is upheld. I have a question. Are the students of FHU allowed to vote in the city and county elections or referendums? If so, then there is no way that anything will ever change. I'm not a huge fan of liquor stores, but liquor by the drink would be nice. I just moved back to Jackson, where I can eat a decent meal and have a beer with it if I so choose. I brought some folks to Henderson to visit from out of state and they thought it was the most backwards place on earth. It's disgusting to see what happened to Mr. Porter in his above post, but not a bit surprising. Some things never change. I just feel sorry for the ones that don't ever leave the county and see how the real world operates.
