Do you feel your posts are truly anonymous on Topix? I know there are a generation of computer whizkids on this board. Whats the scoop?

Ok here is the scoop on the internet and privacy...
DO NOT EVER EXPECT ANY LEVEL OF PRIVACY ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNET.
I will explain a little:
Everyone with a phone has a unique phone numer. Every computer that is connected to any network (the internet imcluded) also has a unique 'phone number' called an IP address. While this ip address can change from time to time, your ISP ( internet service provider) keeps record of what computer was assigned what ip and when.

Every time you click something on the internet (request data) the request for that data includes your ip address. So when you visit topix.com , the topix server has your ip address. The server at topix.com will.keep track of everything done from each ip address. Thus not private. A person (hacker or cop with warrant or IT pro) can look at the servers database and logs and see EXACTLY what each IP Address (internet user) did what or posted what.

Here is what most people do not understand about computers:
It is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to remove data from any computer system. Even if you delete it, it is still there and can be retireved.even if written over! Your computer keeps track of everything you do on the internet and you CANNOT STOP IT OR DELETE IT! Even if you FORMAT the haard drive and reinstall windows your old history can STILL BE RETRIEVED. Please do not be fooled .. you have NO PRIVACY on the internet.

Best way of insuring privacy on the internet:
Get a laptop and REMOVE THE HARD DRIVE and get rid of it.
Get A LINUX live cd.
Run the computer off of the cd only and make sure that there are no data storage deviced attatched to the computer.(Hard drives, flash drives, memorycards etc...)
Use free wifi at mcdonalds or something.
When you are done and you turn off your computer the computer has no way of storing the history data. And the records on the dhcp server for mcds isp will not match your computer!

Check these sites out:

Also search google for 'tor browser'.. it will make your ip address different.. while its running... this is alot more private than using basic browsers but remember your computer still keeps what you did even if topix.com thinks you are in germany..lol

Also it is SAFER to use a credit/debit card online than handing it to say a server or cashier in person.. this information is encrypted in your computer before transmission over the internet. No one sees it and can write info down.. take a pic or scan your card.

I know the security issues. But I have the best solution. Don't care.
