Lawmakers look to simplify mortgages

Few borrowers read every line of the avalanche of paperwork that comes with a mortgage, and even the most well-intentioned might have difficulty understanding all costs associated with their loan -- and how it compares with what other lenders are offering.

The FCPA seems consumer friendly, but there are serious legal concerns here (not to mention the suppression of financial innovation). I am a supporter of the Obama Administration, and would like to see him and his initiatives succeed, but I question the alacrity of a lay bureaucrat to design financial products. There are also legal issues of the dearth of administrative law being created here ...
