Oh god, it is so nice to hear from you. My family is moving up there tomorrow. I will be contacting you next week and perhaps we can get together. God, it is so nice that you finished a book. Wow, it is awesome that you have finished a novel, and is already published by Amazon. The house we bought at OS was bank owned with tons of work and finally done and looking pretty. Anyhow, I am staying in SD, but my mom and dad and sister will move up there. I will move up there when my daughter moved out of house and I was all by myself, that is the time I want to move to OS and live in seclusion away from city noise and darn airplanes that hover over the skies of SD none stop. I would love to know more about your novel and will check it out. Where did you publish it at? Is this woman related to your own life story? socal wrote: I worked for certified languages and was very happy with them, but call volume was not that high for my language. I really recommend them, though - they are wonderful! Keep staying positive, corona del mar! i haven't been writing anything here because I was finishing my first novel. It's a mystery novel about a woman who is trying to follow he spiritual path and stay positive, and how difficult it can be in the world we live in. It's on amazon.com . Title is Adios, Aries. Semi-hopeful, are you in Oceanside yet?

I am so looking forward to meeting you!

I have been writing for a long time, but only screenplays - one of which was optioned, but didn't get made. Very frustrating! An editor at Penguin loved my book and kept me waiting for 10 months, then decided it didn't fit her categories. At that point I decided to self-publish, which allowed me to keep creative control and not have to make it "fit," and also avoid waiting months and years to get it published. As we all know, we've had enough frustration in our lives with network omni!!! I am an Italian interpreter, and have been doing OPI for 9 years.

We are all from different country and some of us have accents. Just do your best and try to understand. But it is difficult to ask repeating many times. It happens rarely. in that case I just tell them politely I can not hear them because of bad connection and call back. And pray they call somebody else who can understand better than me.

True - we all have ACCENTS. But there are some limits, beyond which communication suffers a deadly blow :) Channeling calls to "others" and blaming "reception problems" for that course of action is a good tactics but in my case it wouldn't work most of the time. Too often I'm the only logged - in interpreter....

What about "stupid question syndrome," when the client is working from a script that is already lame in English, and keeps repeating the same inane question to someone who is hard-of-hearing, 95 years old, and confused to begin with?
And it goes on and on until your ears bleed.

Do you speak Japanese? God, I wonder if some of us are willing to teach few words in our languages to each other? I love to learn more Japanese. Great news for all Americans. First time since WWII Congress was able to vote on a universal health care bill. And the bill narrowly passed ( 220/215). If the Senate votes in favor, millions of low income Americans will sigh in relief. Voted version of the bill lets all Americans with low - to - moderate income enroll in Medicaid-like, government administered HMO health insurance system. No more "preexisting condition" rejections, no more personal bankruptcies due to high medical bills, no more extortionate "deductibles" and "copayments". I believe that as more and more Americans qualify for "public option" , because of rising high unemployment rate and general pauperization of the country behemoth-like insurance companies will be phased out. And finally Americans will stand firmly in front of civized world and they will not be ashamed to be Americans anymore. Congratulations, Ms. Pelosi !
p.s. I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat by political genre.

Good morning everyone. I've been super busy moving to a new home and wasn't able to check this blog for all this time. Glad to be able to read all of your valuable comments again. Yes, I agreed with everyone about heavy accent, clients read super long scripts etc etc, and I believe with Midi about healthcare reform. I believe all americans deserve to have appropriate healthcare services. It's a shame to work so hard, pay taxes, community oriented etc etc but when you get sick one day and happen to be at an ER, the hosptial bills cost you an arm and a leg. It's insane.

Did you all have to go through this? We never did with Network Omni...
