While traveling to the surrounding counties in and out of state, I have been questioned on such issues as this. It is really embarrasing to our community and perception. Its time for a change. But this time lets not have another "good ole boy". Or lets do, and paint the cars orange and black with the number 01 on the top!

ok so yea..DUI is bad. coming from a sherrif is worse, but before anyone should be calling him a drunk or stupid ass or saying how embarrassing it is, you should probably know the whole story. Do i know the whole story? no, but realy close. the dumbass that asked how you role a minivan, here you go. its called old van, bad tires, mixed with a dicth on the the edge of the pavement that is just past a curve in the highway( which he was traveling on he high side of the HW. the momentum of the vehicle will carry you toward the top of the road) and then a steep ditch/or crick as you might call it off the road. Also for the smartasses who claim that he dances on bar's and whatnot, why did you vote him in?
why dont we all think open-mindedly about things and put ourselves in jim's position. have we ever drank, then driven? have we ever done a stupid embarrassing thing? if you cant come up with anything then you are too stubborn or stupid to be allowed to log onto this website.

I have been to the crash scene and I can tell you that open-minded is way off base here. There wasn't a ditch, or high banking curve. There isn't a lip on the edge of the road or any thing that would have contributed to this accident. Go look for yourself. The road curved and he went straight. If the road wouldn't have curved, he wouldn't have crashed there No skid marks, no over-correcting, nothing. The vehicle left the road, went airborn and landed in a yard and rolled. Now that is what happened. It would appear that the operator was not manipulating the controls at the time of the accident. Asleep or passed out, you be the judge on that one. Sterling Fire and Rescue didn't recognize the vehicle because Jim had recently purchased it. It was an upgrade from his old worn out van, not a clunker as others have suggested. I know that people would like to make it look like he was innocent, but the facts can't be changed. Good working van in great condition, being operated by a certified law enforcement officer that is trained in Emergency Vehicle Operations, goes straiight on a curve without any attempt to correct the course of the vehicle and then shows up at the hospital intoxicated, with a broken arm, 20 minutes later. I have not but I know a lot of people drink and drive. The difference is that we didn't take an oath to uphold the law! He is supposed to be arresting the drunk drivers not doing it himself.

Everyone makes mistakes but you don't accidentally drink. He made a choice to drink and drive.

By putting himself in the public eye he has to be careful of his actions in public. Dancing on the bar in Elk Creek, drinking to the point of intoxication in a public bar then wrecking your car the same night, it all should not be part of that office.
