From the official guidelines at the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Federal Acknowledgement, a question; "If we go through the whole acknowledgement process, and are denied recognition, may we try again?" Answer to who may not try again; "Splinter groups, spin offs, or component groups of any type which were once part of petitioners previously denied."
When Beverly Baker's group, the Northern Cherokee Cherokee Nation of the Old Louisiana Territory, fails in their lame recognition attempt then it is over for all three groups. |

Here is the second Technical Assistance Letter from the BIA to the Western Cherokee Nation of Arkansas and Missouri. http://www.westerncherokee.net/pdf/BIATA2009.... Their petition is declared "not viable." I served with Lola Smith Scholl, founder of the WCNAM, on Beverly Baker's Northern Cherokee of the OLT National Council. Councilwoman Scholl, and her followers, somehow ceased being Northern Cherokee and started and became the Western Cherokees. Their BIA designation should be #100c not #191. You can apply many of the things written to the Lola Scholl group to the Northern Cherokees. I give the "Western Cherokees" a lot of credit for posting this letter on their website.

Didn't lola pass away ? |

|
Yes, Lola Scholl has passed away, but her group continues on. Many of those formerly on the National Councils of the two Northern Cherokee Nations have gone on to other groups and things. Examples are; J. C. Thompson, Robert Woolery, Will Gunier, Richard Craker, Don Coones, Tim Sanders, Lola Scholl. Some, like Glenda Seabaugh, who joined the Aniyunwiya Nation, but is currently on Beverly Northup's Council, have left the Northern Cherokees and then returned later.

Stop free-loading at the taxpayers' expense and get a job.
|

Gina, what do you mean by taxpayers expense?
|

I too can prove who I am and how I became this proud man that I am.
It burns me and hurts me to think the Nation betrayed it's members. Does anybody have any information to any recent happenings? |
