The city of Festus and Crystal city should join togeather. This would allow a new Fire department to hire fulltime firefighters. It is sad the second bigest city in our county has no fulltime Firefighters. Both citys have been lucky it is just a matter of time before something bad happens becuase of a delay in response. God forbid someone dies Citizen or Firefighter. It is time for the cities to get it in gear to save the lives of their people! Lets be proactive not reactive.

I agree the Firedepts should merge! sharing both equipment and manpower. The city has no problem spending money on law enforcement but what about fire and ems safety. There is a definite need for fulltime Firefighters and a new Chief of both Departments. We need a new Chief from the outside who can change the department in the direction it needs to run! and not be swaded by the buddy system. It is time!!!!!!

but it comes down to two things...money and power. The cities are allready crying broke and to have full time departments it would cost hundreds of thousands per year for salaries, equipment, proper training, insurance etc etc....

you can also count on the both cities not wanting to give up any power to consolidate resources, no matter how much sense it would make

Yea they spend millions on the police and can't man a firehouse? Makes no sense to me must be all the lead and the public educated leaders that can't put two and two together.

The Police generate ALOT of the money that they are paid by writing tickets and most of their equipment is given to them from grants that they receive from the government. For example, if you see them working a DWI checkpoint, that checkpoint may earn their Dept. new Radars, equipment, or even guns. The fire Department has the same oppurtunity to get free stuff from the govt., without having to do the work! It all depends on who is your grant writer. He is the one that writes to the govt. to get these items. So, the police are pulling NOTHING away from the fire Department. Its our own damn writer that hurts us.

I would like to extend an invitation to all firefighters to my "Brian in Satin" fashion show to be held at my home, and home of Round Table Taxes. I am a tax preparer and am late on my mortgage and car payments and need to made some cash fast! Preferences include but does not exclude muscular, construction, caucasion, youthful, and Mario Lopez types.

My name is Brian and I'm a full time extremist and fundamentalist. If you enjoy hearing me babble about my latest greatest grossest tasting juice on the planet "Monavie" just give me a call at Round Table Taxes. As a tax preparer I enjoy making out for long periods of time then passing along a little specialty virus that will send you running to an ob/gyn quick. My idea of the perfect date is to show up two hours late with my boyfriend Jeff, a young construction worker. Call me!

practicing abstinence hasn't got me the results of a male companion I need so badly. Please if anyone is lonely I'm on chat all night long and enjoy mafia wars. My greatest accomplishment is reading the bible in it's entirety. I own an operate Round Table Taxes of Festus, MO and am guarantying the best monumental expression of queerness. Fleur Di Lis is the symbol of my life and I wear the symbol on my clothing. I am an opportunist and extremist - I love brad pitt esp. in Legends of the fall. Call me for a non expensive date, and be prepared for my last minute third wheel Jeff. I try to live my life as perfect as christ: however I preach I'm not a saint. Irony? Anomaly. How bout uncultured and uneducated - if you are interested call me - local males only

If you remember correctly, a neighboring ambulance district brought an outsider in who was doing a great job. So good a job that it is obvious they got rid of him because the board is a bunch of uneducated, power hungry, men and women who were to dang stupid to realize the guy they hired was on the right path for that department. Instead, they fire him for no reason, put an EMT in his position who has no education and pay him 9,000 more a year.

This area has one of the most jacked up fire/ems systems in the country. We are in 2010 almost, it is time for districts to go and the county step up to the plate and consolidate the whole county into one and get people in there to run it efficently, effectively. Quit imbreeding your management teams. Oh and boards have got to go. To much power with NO supervision.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Aries

There are mixed messages flying around in the ether today, so be wary about drawing any concrete conclusions from what happens now. Even though you don't realize it, you may be misreading the signs that someone is sending out, which will lead to complications later on. Be especially careful about indulging in romantic daydreams and then believing them.
