kab is a horrible home builder. i live in twin pines in cedar hill and was lucky enough to experience the wonderful quality home builder, kab(hahahahaha). ive never seen a carpenter miss a wall stud so often. it looks like an 8th grade shop class helped build. they have tried to take care of the numerous problems ive had, but the biggest problem i have is nationwide drywall. i decided to repaint with a semi gloss on the walls, ive never seen so many hammer marks and imperfections everywhere. the worst is the ceiling. i must have at least 5 nails per room starting to pop out. even with a textured ceiling, you can see the outline of every piece of drywall. it looks horrible. if anyone has problems i suggest you contact the bbb. things get done at a faster rate. on another note, dni properties is suposed to "maintain" twin pines, but they havent done a thing. if you live in twin pines i urge you to contact the bbb immediately to hold this company accountable, and try to have them clean up some of the hoosiers in here because we all know which ones they are.

What a horrible condescending manner you have..are you the builder?

I'm not discounting anyone's problems. I'm giving my experience the same as the other people are. All my neighbors around me had their houses built by KAB and I've asked most of them(because of what I've read on here) if they've had any problems out of the ordinary and none of them had any major complaints. Of course not every home built it going to be a perfect process and there are plenty of people that are impossible to please no matter what you do so I feel I should give my opinion. Again, I'm really happy with how everything turned out and I'm sorry that other people haven't had the same experience.

If you are fed up with the cookie cutter subdivisions, then here's an idea and recommendation. For great "custom" homes built in Jefferson County by Jefferson countians, check out http://www.JacksonConstructionInc.net

Tell them "Steve King" referred you. My wife and I HIGHLY recommend Joe and Debbie's work. A+ communication, design ideas and craftmanship. Their pics on their website say a thousand words.

You get what you pay for, people shop price and not quality I am a custom builder and I do not know much about KAB homes other than they build typical subdivision homes.
I will say however most jobs that I bid, I lose to builders like this that build track homes and have sub-contractors run the project or some twenty dollar and hour worker that just wants to get his eight hours in and go home.
Like I said above people shop price, most builders cut in materials and or quality labor to get the work, now more than ever. So it depends what you are looking for, I also think as a builder that the way problems are addressed can make a big difference.
So in regards to KAB Homes I do not personally know them and what they do as far as call backs but most subdivision builders fight against each other to sell, there is no magic wand that makes this one the ultimate home builder, they all cut corners to get jobs
The market drives it that direction PEOPLE SHOP PRICE NOT QUALITY
Why would you have a tract builder and most here are build custom CHEAP THATíS WHY

You should see the gigantic pile of mud they continuesly leave in the street. I understand this is construction and it can't be perfect, but my god if you had to drive through this slop everyday you would want to shovel up as much as possible and drop it off on larrys front porch. And the inconsiderate people he employees leave all there trash all over the place, blowing through the street and in your yard. One day his workers generator ran out of gas, and instead of driving 1 mile to the gas station, they decided to trespass over to my house and plug their extension cords into my outside outlets. Needless to say their tools tripped my breaker, which was tied into my newborn baby's room, and the monitor stopped working. Thankfully my wife wasn't asleep and thought something was wrong and found out what happened. They apologized, but that's not how you conduct business. Steal my electric I'm paying for and if something would have happened god forbid, heads would have rolled. There is a reason why kab doesn't have a physical address only a po box. Check out his bbb record, not exactly the best. I've been trying to get something fixed since early 2008 and have it in writing and it's still not done. People do your research. Cheap is good but you do get what you pay for. If anyone has a question fire away or just check out twin pines in cedar hill in person, make sure you make your way through the whole subdivision, not just the front. I wouldn't let this guy build a spice rack much less my home if I knew anybetter.

My personal experience with KAB was great. Like others that have put up a post, if there was anything wrong they were quick to take care of it. I would not hesitate to buy from them again. I too have talked with neighbors and none of them have complaints either. Good luck!

I recently purchased a home from KAB and had a very pleasant experience. I had a careful eye on them as the home was being constructed and was very pleased with the whole process. I would recommend them as a homebuilder to anyone who was getting ready to buy!

This is a completely accurate statement, as i just had the displeasure of doing business with this company. Whoever disagreed with the above statement is either crazy or working for this horrible builder. Basement leaks, horrible painting and drywall, the yard grading was horrible, grew weeds instead of grass from lack of grass seed thrown, plywood on the floor is starting to pop up, etc. Just an overall bad experience. The owner is a lazy, untalkative a-hole and could care less about the customer. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BUILDER!!!!!!!!!! If you have a new home built, you shouldnt have to worry about all these problems right away.

I built a house in providence in Herculaneum, MO... there were a few issues that we had but they were all fixed within a couple of weeks.. the key thing I learned is that you have to go straight through Larry or his brother and not the people in the front office in order to get it fixed quickly.. the people that are complaining seem to be building in Cedar Hill and Pevely so maybe they use different contractors in those neighborhoods... but I would recommend kab to build your home in Herculaneum!

I built with KAB in Hardwood Hills in Pevely. Jan Curtis (Curtis team with Remax) was the real estate agent, and it was not very smooth at all. First of all we were told the common ground was included with the subdivision, that was a lie which the HOA eventually had to buy 3 years laters. Second, the built the wrong house on our lot. Third, the front of the house leaked along the siding brick ledge. Fourth, the drywall finishing was horrible. Even the textured walls and popcorn ceiling couldn't cover up the mess. On the inside jamb of closet doors, you could the see the drywall studs and corner bead. Fifth, these idiots don't level any exterior doors at all, you can see outside from inside with the door shut. Sixth, grading, WTF would they know about grading, there was such a water problem in that subdivison it was ridiculous. Seventh, extremely low water pressure required booster pumps. You could turn on your sprinkler and it would get stuck to one side because there wasn't enough pressure for it to rotate to the other side. Eigth, they never tested for radon, which was higher that accepted levels, had to put in mitigation system. Ninth, i would keep finding cigarette buts in my basement even after i moved in, like someone had keys to my house and visited when i was gone. Little scary feeling.

If you are planning buying with KAB, be sure to check out Hardwood Hills above the I55 Race track in pevely. You will be pesuaded not to after talking to the residents.

You would think that disclosure of your HOA would be known to you before you buy home, not after you buy as was done to everyone else here.DNI properties have operated this sub-division in the red for 7 years now to the tune of -$38,000 with 300 homes trying to support a 700 home subdivision. We can't use tennis, basketball courts and community pool cost a fortune for us 300 to keep open for the new potential homeowners. I would have never bought in here knowing how broke community was and HOA fees are $400.00 @ year. You guys do the math!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. What a mess.Homeowners responsible for streets, lighting, snow removel, common ground maintance, community pool, retention pond cleanouts, monuments located at entrance, dni management fees and a host of others and The builder is not respondsible for anything. Why should we homeowners be ask to fix streets while he still builds homes in subdivision and won't even maintain undeveloped lots.We have approx.300 homes and Board of Directors who tell us how to spend more money, that we don't have.We need help other than homeowners to float bill for the subdivision, until completed. How bout it KAB HOMES
Thank you all

Thanks to all for your comments. My wife and I were looking at home in Cedar Hill last year. The walk through was all I needed along with the lack of enough houses to actually call it a "Subdivision" after they've been building there for years. I saw enough in the existing display to know that I didn't want one built to that standard. How can they expect to sell homes with a display that look like it was built by shop class students. Once again thanks to all for verifying my serious suspicions.

They will NOT work with you on the issues that come up after you buy your "home", and trust me their will be plenty of issues. Larry Barnes is a jerk, and if anyone needs his number, its three-one-four five-six-five five-nine-two-nine. Everyone, there is a reason his company doesnt have an actual address, only a lonely P.O. Box. If anyone needs any more info, just ask me, ill be glad to help!!! If anyone has any problems with kab, i urge them to file BBB complaints against them. I heard he loves getting letters from them. Ha!

I have to express complete gratitude to Larry and Lisa. They have been absolutely amazing throughout our entire home building experience. There was an issue with communication on their realtors part and everything that was wrong was fixed including having a door cut in the basement, the water heater was moved after it was completely hooked up, and the brick in front of the garage was redone because it didn't look right to us. Never once did Larry and Lisa make us feel bad and everything was fixed in a timely manner. All of this was before we even moved in. I would recommend KAB to anyone I know!!!

Has anyone heard anything regarding a home builder in Jeff Co. named Wayne Webb?
Wayne Webb seems to be a good guy and his homes look good. His homes are set in the ground where they are staked by the surveying company. That's something a lot of builders have a hard time doing. So I would guess the rest of his work is good too.

If I was going to have a home built I would want Kirkwood-Webster construction to build it. I am not sure if he would build in Jefferson county but his homes are quality high end homes. He would meet or exceed your expectations.

I am very satisfied with my home that was constructed by KAB! No issues with them whatsoever! This was not my first new home. I was expecting to have to stay on top of everything myself but I found that if you let them do their job and just wait for the finished product its a much easier process! I LOVE MY KAB HOME!
