Feral dogs running in packs are a real threat. The activists want them trapped...and then do what with them? The activists say that the situation could be handled differently. So, where is their plan?

From the article: "Mooney said police would shoot only potentially violent dogs after attempts to capture them had failed.

Animal rights advocates said the problem could be solved in better ways, such as trapping the animals or encouraging punishment for those who dump dogs."

Apparently the 'animal rights advocates' know more about trapping animals than the LEO's who are attempting to deal with the situation. I suggest THEY go capture the animals and take them home with them. And what good is "encouraging punishment" for the dog dumpers going to do at this stage? Sheesh, idiots...

You are so right on the packs. They have resorted back to their predomestication stage and are a threat to livestock, other pets and especially small children. Kill them and sell the meat to China.

Has anyone of those "activists" ever tried to catch anyone dumping unwanted animals? No? I didn't think so.

When those complaining about the solution to a problem doesn't have a viable answer, they need to be still, and let the authorities handle it.
