Improved and Expanded Food Bank in Fernley

Dear Fernley City Council Members:
Fernley could use a new, updated and expanded Food Bank.
Hi all, yes, I am not a resident of Fernley, but I still care.
Today I saw in the Fernley Leader Courier a statement from Joe Specchio regarding your office desiring to charge $0.25 per page to copy documents. I know you will make a killing with this new surcharge and so I have a wonderful idea on how you can use those funds.
I did some math on this. In one day - if 30 people were to come to your office to bring projects such as, documents, etc for the sake of doing business with the City of Fernley, and their documents are a total of ten (10) pages, well, that comes to a total of 300 pages at $0.25 per page =$75.00 per DAY that you have charged customers (plus dont forget to charge the sales tax too). On an average of 249 business days a year (52 weeks X 5 business days 11 holidays) at $75.00 a day well thats a whopping $18,675 a year PLUS sales tax!
Fernley has seen better days, and will see them again some day, however, Fernley is in desperate need of an expanded and updated Food Bank. With all the funds you will be getting from room tax dollars, coupled with the new copy charges you would like to charge, why dont you give some of it back to the community?
OUR local food bank is in need of additional food to support the people who are losing their jobs, their homes and more. Wont you please donate, maybe, perhaps $10,000 to the local Food Bank to help them during their hour of need?
Thanks for reading this letter from a non-resident.

******** UPDATE ********
I did receive an email response from one of the City Councilmen (Parsons) who said that it is against the corporate policies to do such a thing for the Food Bank - however, in my own mind - why couldnt' they do some damage control and coordinate a food drive in the parking lot that is compliments of the City of Fernley? It could be done just like the Reno area does on the annual basis at the Grand Sierra Summit and at the Carson Valley Inn?......a "drive-by" - ANYTHING would help.

In other words...
"ITS NOT PROFITABLE!!"
And of course "corporate policies" can never be amended unless "it's profitable".

I believe that the City may be able to apply for a CDBG grant (a Community Development Block Grant) to get some funds for this - however I am not certain. I am checking into it with other "food pantry" grups across America.
