The Nevada State Ethics Commission is a sham and a scam with respect to discovering and finding guilty government employees of any wrongdoings. The Commission is clearly in place for the purpose of providing a cover to all corruption in the State of Nevada. This is most unfortunate because otherwise Nevada would be a far better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Mr. Lowell Patton, Fernley Public Works Director, is one of the most corrupt Fernley City employees. Some qualified and perceptive investigator needs to ask him why he bought property just down the street (Mesa Drive) from the brand new water treatment plant, and then had the contractor which put in the water conveyance system illegally "hookup" this property to the new city water system. This was self-serving and demonstrably financially beneficial to this city employee. This Public Works Director, Lowell Patton, purchased this Mesa Drive development property 3 WEEKS AFTER THE CITY, INCLUDING HIM, MADE THE DECISION TO PURCHASE THE PROPERTY UPON WHICH TO BUILD THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT: GOVERNMENT AT IT'S WORST AND CLEARLY CORRUPTION. This type of corruption unfortunately remains endemic in Fernley, Nevada. And the citizens are the unfortunate losers, but some good citizens are trying to make positive changes against all odds and change the ways of this very government they pay to protect them from this kind of criminal activity.

I have to agree with Citizen4Fernley in regards to the corrupt Fernley employees with the exception Lowell Patton is not alone. I could name any number of employees or City officials that fit that bill. What is it about government that the best intentioned people get in office (or employed) and over night think government is a cash cow. What they immediately forget they are working for John Q Public. Fernley is not alone. That goes for City/County/State and the Federal Government.

Just goes to show that no matter how big or small the advantage is, many people (politicians) will take it. I sincerely hope that none of my children ever go into politics because it seems that even small town politicians can't resist the urge to turn to the Dark Side :(
