Gangs??? umm no...maybe wanna be gang members. Here all we have are a bunch of low life scum bags that have no respect for life! If there were true GANGS here in Jax...these lil scums could NEVER hang! However if this will increase police traffic then yes we have "gangs"...whatever it takes.

Wanna-be's not gonna-be's. There is no MS-13 in Jax, those kids watched Gangland Thur. nights on the history channel. There are no real bloods,crips, or folk in Jax neither they are all wanna-be's. These gang affiliations have a heirarchy, they earn and pay tribute to their ledership. The gangs in Jax are formed by white preppy kids who live in country clubs. They are formed when tyrone gets 6 months for burglary and comes ou six months later a set king. Hey Jax are your gangs paying tribute to old men locked up for life in California? are they taking orders from these guys? Nope, they are wanna-be's. It is rap musics fault, it glorifies that lifestyle.

I think unless above poster's are on the gang task force that you don't have a clue....get real and face reality, pretty or not....I watched a kid my son grew up with turn into a gang member, wearing the tatooed tear for killing someone and now in the federal pen and not for murder....that one hasn't been pinned on him. My son? He knew when to call it quits with this kid...thank God!

Informative story about gang signs, but why now?
Because there is more going on than the police are saying. Gang members of both crips and bloods have bragged about a new initiation crime.
They've chosen to drive in any part of town at night with headlights off, then if someone gives them a flash, they are the next victim.
Sound like urban legend? Ask the towing company that picked up the car which had 4 people in it.
Ask a police officer.The only thing they may tell you is, don't flash your lights.
The police only know this because a typical trait of "gangs" remains; they like to brag.

JOker and MIK, I agree a billion percent to what you both have said. My opinion is that the media knows that they can scare people here easily by putting stories like this on air. Some not all people here have never been exposed to that type of exposure. I have said this before and will continue Jax has no gangs period. Just like you guys said wanna be's. THe history channel remark was perfect. I dont know much about ms-13 but TS(Texas syndicate), Vice LOrds, Folks, Latin Kings, Maniac GD's, Bloods , and crips I know about just because of where I grew up in Mississippi. I have personally talked to kids about what they are trying to claim and not know a damn thing about why the gang was formed, by who, and what stands for what. Just plain wanna be's. Im not a gang member and nor do I think I know all about them. However, spending 22 years of life in the southwestern part of jackson,ms taught me a lot when dealing with people on the streets that are really out in your neighborhood that are gang members. HERE JAX there aren't any unless you want to count the ones that may have come here with the navy.

Do they actually know who started crips and why? Are they from California(Watts or South Central) where it began? If they do know anything about crips its probably from the movie redemption starring jamie foxx. There arent any in Jax. A guy in a previous post pretty much explained what a true member is and does. How a gang is structured and you want to say sorry question if anyone else really knows? Obvious your knowledgge of is from what I read between the lines is third party at this point. Supposedly from the source then your crips friends you and now to topix. Anyway I could go on for days but the point is if they are crips they arent born and raised in duval. More than likely transplants via military or family move. And even so they wouldnthave enough power to set up their own chapter without consulting
