Who sold Travis the alcohol? 18 years old and he has ruined a family's life forever. I just wish that if people are going to make this stupid mistake of drinking and driving and kill someone..then they need to stand up and face the music. Steven was a very kind and gentle person who loved his family and friends. He was so very close to his cousin Aaron, and now Aaron has lost his best friend too. You don't meet very many young men these days who were as sweet as Steven was. Instead of having a wonderful 19th birthday on Dec.13th his family had to bury him on Dec 14th. We know he is in a better place, but he should be enjoying life with the many people who loved him. Drinking and Driving don't go together and espically when it's kids. The ones that do the drinking and driving are the ones that usually walks away, while the innoscent ones..like Steven..who didn't know the driver had been drinking are the ones that don't get to enjoy the life they deserve! I know people are innoscent until proven guilty. Steven didn't deserve to die over someone elses drinking, and neither does anyone else. I think they need to make the laws tougher on the people that drink and drive. It's ok to have a casual drink, but it's not ok to let someone get in the car with you after you have been drinking. People who drink and drive need to think about the other person instead of "having a good time". A good time is over the next day, but if someone gets killed at the exspense of your good time, think..was it worth it? And if the answer was yes..Then stand up and face the music..because your good time cost another person their life.

Personally, I believe that there is no way that anyone that got in the car didnt know that travis was drinking. If he was well over the legal limit then it had to out in the open. No one held guns to their heads and made them ride in the car with him. Plus, fron what i understand they all came from a party and were all drinking. if they werent all drinking then why wouldnt someone not drunk have drove. I just dont believe that they were all sober other than travis. I think travis should get punished. He should have been punished the first time he got a DUI but thats is how great our justice system is. Maybe he would have learned if the cops didnt turn right around and give him license right back. He is a kid just like any other 18 year old and they all made bad decisions getting into that car.

Yes, drinking and driving is a terrible thing to do. Automatic death sentence in my book. How can you be sure that your friend wasn't also drinking? Did he know Jesus as his Lord and savior? If not, then that is where the real problem lies. If he didn't know Jesus he is not in a very good place right now. And to think he is is just trying to ease your own mind. It is an unfortunate thing that happened, but what happened happened. It can happen to you at anytime. Are you prepared? Do you know Jesus? Just ask him into your heart today.

It is very sad that this happened. Unfortunately we will never be able to stop it. The person who supplied the drink should also be punished. The person who was driving has also lost his life. He will serve time as a young man and will have to live with this for as long as he lives. He has a life sentence 24 hours a day.

From what I've heard all the kids involved were out partying together, they were all friends and all were aware before getting into the vehicle. It could have been anyone in the car driving, you can never bring Steve back and I agree with Annie, Travis will have to live with this the rest of his life. The family of Steve continues to condemn Travis but Steve could have just as well been the driver none involved were totally innocent of drinking, smoking, taking pills, drugs etc. Everyone needs to treat people the way they would like to be treated if the tables were turned.

We know that Steve wasnt drinking because he has epilepsy which causes him to have seizures if any drugs or alcohol is consumed. Travis deserves to pay for the rest of his damn life in my opinion i was with steve everyday and i know how he is. He would do anything for anyone at anytime...and he would never get mad or be mean...Travis probably wouldnt even let him drive but i know he was sober so unless you know the story please dont assume!

Ok you think he has a life sentence of 24 hours a day your wrong! He could care less he was right back to drinking and partying like there was no tomorrow and loved it all. He even said he doesnt care anymore and so the courts put him on probation saying he cant drink be around alcohol or be anywhere that sold alcohol and guess what he is in jail now...you know why...because he was caught doing the same thing over again.

I am the aunt of Steven Miller and first of all I can tell you Steven "Was Not Drinking"! He was not friends with Travis Spalding the driver that "killed him" and had no idea any of the boys that night in the car had been drinking. He never would have got into the car if he knew that. He was called designated dan. He use to pick all his friends up from parties that had been drinking and take them home. He just happened to show up later that night and had no idea any of the other boys had been drinking. So before anyone goes and post their opinion on the situation "Get Your Facts Straight"!

first of all travis and steven knew each other. and EVERYONE in that car knew that travis had been drinking. what travis did was completely wrong but he did not make anyone get into that car it was all self willingly. travis did not purposely kill steven..i know him very well and he would not ever do that! teenagers make mistakes! anyone else could have easily gotten into their car drunk instead of travis and drove and then you all would be mad at someone else and saying things towards them. travis does deserved to get punished..which he will but dont say stuff cause you never know..one day your kid might go out drinking and do something as terrible as travis did. you cant say they wont cause you cant control your kids. my parents were strict and there were still many times that i could have gone out and done what travis did. so quit wishing harm on travis he knows what he did was wrong and he is paying for it now!

First of all this is not the first time Travis has been involved in an accident under the influence of alcohol. He got his hand slapped the first time so he should be punished and punished good! You don't know what you are talking so until you do stay out of it.
