Haylie Duff may star in movie filmed in West Michigan

Haylie Duff and Sam Huntington are in negotiations to star in an independent film from Saugatuck's TicTock Studios .

Whats a million dollars going to do for Michigan, and where is this film industry plan going to lead the state out of a recession. Instead of trying to be actors, why don't we try to be ourselves? Of course, thats a scary thought for a lot of people.

I suppose your one of the whiners that wants to know 'What has Granholm done for us?'--like she can wave a magic wand. Have you been to Toronto lately? It's booming because of Hollywood--hotels, retail, on down. This could be a great thing for Michigan.

Heard a study on the radio the other day, done by a private group (i.e. not trying to get re-elected) that said that studios are coming to Michigan, shooting a little bit of their movie, going back to Hollywood and doing the rest of their work. Then they submit the entire production cost for the great Moleholm tax credit. Sounds like a great deal for Michigan.

Wow--there must be a lot of movies being filmed here for a 'study' to be made? I suspect they were using 'The Road to Perdition' as the example--only a small portion of the movie was shot in Michigan. Are there no restrictions on this tax credit? I would think not. I wonder if this study was conducted by one of Dick & Betsy DeVos's 'charitable foundations'?? Fox News? So called 'private groups' may not be trying to get re-elected, but they most assuredly are trying to get someone else elected.

Michael it doesn't surprise me one bit. If that wart hog ( Granholm) had her hands in it I'm sure we'll be paying for it somehow later.

So why is diversification & change so scary for you? Obviously being ourselves isn't working all that well, now, is it? Take some risks. Your relatives did when they came over. You did when you got married, went to college, had kids, got your 1st job. Now is not the time to be the turtle in the shell. Give it a chance. If it doesn't work, try something else. I live in Holland. I have gone to "the set". It is actually kind of cool. I give DePree credit. He is following his dream. You have a dream?
