"Left turning a motorcycle" is the number one cause of fatal bike wrecks...If you think that you have enough time to turn left in front of a bike, your wrong...you don't...don't do it. Wait for the bike to pass. The first person that says that "you can't see motorcycles" must immediately forfiet your license. If your vision is that bad you shouldn't be driving. Pick your head up, look down range and hang up your phone... Kill a biker go to jail...

And another victim of an illegal is racked up on the ole score sheet. 6,000+ of us yearly, are killed by illegals. Folks thats a small town. And it gets worse as you head to states with high populations of hispanics. Nothing aginst those folks, just a simple fact. The illeglas go where people speak their language. And where they can 'blend in" easier. Shame.. this guy will sit in jail for a few months, then be deported home and he will probbaly be back in america within a year. God only knows how long after that till he kills another one of us.

OMGosh what ignorance... someone's conviction of a crime should have nothing to do with their legal status. Not sure where your "6,000+" estimate of us being killed yearly by illegals came from. But why don't bother to make an estimate of how many of us are killed by repeat drunk drivers or children abused by repeat pervs. Had this man been a 'legal' citizen' then what would have been your comment??? There has been no reasoning yet as to why the driver turned or what was involved. Not sure if alcohol was involved or not. But were it not for his 'illegal' status then would the community simply dismiss it as an accident or careless driving. Also, a high population of hispanics does not necessarily indicate they are illegal. Your political, ignorant BS would be best kept in another forum. Most importantly, and regardless of the man's legal status we lost a father, a husband, and a good friend. Bill was a great guy to know. He touched so many people with his sometimes controversial but always hilarious thoughts on any/every topic. He helped us all remember that no matter how bad things got there was still something to laugh about. That is how I plan to remember Bill! Unfortunately the man that hit Bill made a big mistake that is affecting so many people. As one of Bill's coworkers I have seen many people struggling to get through the day while maintaining composure. There have been many tears shed by us and I can't even imagine what his wife and family are going through at this time. Me and my family are praying for you. You have had a very difficult time recently and God only knows why you have been given this tragedy to deal with but he has a reason. I can't say I blame him for calling Bill home. He must have wanted Bill to brighten the days in heaven with his great sense of humor. I will also pray for the driver and passengers of the vehicle that hit Bill, for their family is separated and going through a very difficult time as well. The driver will no doubt have great difficulty moving on with his life after killing a man, regardless of his nation of origin. We miss you Bill but are thankful for the time we had with you. You have given us so many memories while you were here and cracking jokes, pushing the envelope, and being a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stuffy environment is how I will remember you.

my husband worked with Bill and you can say he was some what of a mentor to my husband. Bill's death has affected my husband in a very deep way; Bill changed my husbands way of thinking and has made him a better person. My condolences to Bill's family and as my husband said "now he can be with his little grandson."

Bill made an impact on many at ODL and he's missed terribly. I never got to know him personally but I knew who he was. I haven't heard anything bad about the man! Such a tragedy. I know this can happen to anyone but it makes it worse when an illegal is responsible.... if he hadn't been here then Bill would be alive yet today! We don't know when our time to go will come but we should make the most of each day we're given. RIP Bill!!!

Whether you're an illegal or not, please... please... please watch out for motorcycles on the road. It's not like it is in the movies- real people on real mototcycles can't stop on a dime. They can't zip through stopped cars and ramp over stuff. Just please watch out for them.

I saw a report on WOOD TV talking to some of the witnesses who tried to help. I hope that if I am ever in a situation like that, that some good people would come and try help me .Even if they just hold my hand in my last moments. Apparently the guy in the van didn't care at all about what he had just done.

They said he was confused and didn't know English so he tried to leave. Whether that's truly the case isn't what matters anymore. There are good people out there who will help in times of tragedy. They just react and don't think about what they're doing until afterwards. It's a natural instinct to help those in need. Some act on it and some let fear hold them back.(Not knowing the person in need or what they may be carrying as far as diseases....) I agree.... I hope if this were me that some kind person would sit with me until help arrived. Even if that's all they were able to do is sit and hold my hand.

Beyond the accident . There are a lot of illegals in our country killing people in one fashion or another. They don't want to assimilate to our society they want to live here and be separate . Now we here about "honor killings" . There is no one else to blame but the Congress and the Senate. I am sure there are lots of people from other countries who appreciate our freedom and try to legally gain there citizenship. But the bad apples are spoiling it for them .

They forget how they slaughtered many Native Americans just for this land. They didn't speak their language and they didn't blend in. If you ask me, they are no better than the germans who killed millions of jews.

Neither did my father, either of my grandfathers (exclucing some Nazi's), or probably my great grandfathers before them. This guy however, did kill someone. Thanks for taking his side.

Bikes & scooters, too. I ride my bike all over Holland. I really have to watch out for 2 ton cars that either don't see me (& my rig w the Burley child carrier s/b hard to miss) or just plain think I don't matter since I am riding a bike. Vespa scooter, too, seems to have some sort of cloaking mechanism on it. Please watch for those saving gas & trying to diminish our obesity problem here in the good old US of A! We all share the road. And yes, I do follow the established traffic laws!

Keep lookin' back and you won't see what's right in front of you. People need to learn from the past and stop living in the past. Why is everything turned into a racial thing. I think those people that turn it into a racial thing are probably racists. Get over it, there are good and bad, no matter where their from, I would think this is a good forum to leave condolences for the family and friends who lost someone.

The Law is the law . And those who would break it need to go to jail. Stop making excuses for the illegals. Stop being so PC. Why should some have to abide by the law and others not?!!!!
Oh so when ask others to abide by the law we become racists ?

Oh so when ask others to abide by the law we become racists ? I wonder if this topic would've gotten this comment from you if it had been a white guy that hit Bill. And why are we makin' it about the person that hit Bill? I prefer not to exault the individual that disobeyed the law by mentioning him in previous text.
